The Heads Up Thread(deals and such)

Steam has a holiday auction thing going on now. If you have tons of random crap in your steam inventory I'd get ready to sell it, particularly emoticons or backgrounds. They can be traded in for "gems" to use in the auction and people are starting to snatch them up. If you have a lot it might really add up

I wouldn't even bother trying to enter the auction right now because the bids are absurd. 32800 for Half-Life 2 and there's probably like 5 people on Steam that don't own that yet

Yeah I don't even have instagram. I thought of making one for this, but that felt a little silly! They gave away some cool ones though. There really are so many I want. I'm still working on getting the GoT ones I want and there are more all the time. Plus stuff like Seinfeld, Orphan Black and X-Files coming, it is hard to stay on top of these!

It sure is. I still need to finish off my Hobbit ones and Buffy ones, then I want Firefly, Pulp Fiction, eventually Seinfeld. There's just way too many. Good luck on GoT ones, there are like 40 right?

Yeah I don't intend to collect all the GoT ones. Just certain ones. I still want to get Jaime, Ygritte and the dragons or at least Drogon. And Oberyn is coming soon. Will need him. It never ends.

If I had the cash I might have bit. But I'm sure Far Cry will see another deal on PC soon enough.

It seems Gamer's Club Unlocked is $30 this week at Best Buy. I believe it is for a 2 year subscription. The big selling point is it gets you 20% off all new games, but there are quite a few other benefits. Worth a look for those who buy games new. Buy a few new releases over two years and you'll have made the $30 back.

I got that for free for two years as part of that colossal Best Buy screw up I had to deal with a few months ago. It's a fantastic deal... I know I didn't pay for it, but at $30 its kind of a no brainer. It would more than pay for itself in new game savings after buy 3 $60 games.

South Park: Stick of Truth is $5 on PSN. It is listed as a price change on the PS Blog, so not sure if this price is there to stay or not. Figured it was worth bringing to people's attention though as it might be easy to miss in the giant post on the blog.

The steam sale has started. It mostly seems pretty good. The GTAV deal is literally one of the worst I've ever seen though. You have to buy it in a bundle with another dirt-cheap Rockstar game and in-game cash. So you'd save like 2 bucks from the original price (which is $20 higher than it should be for a new game on PC, which GTAV never was)

Yeah, to hell with that GTA sale. On the other hand, Valkyria Chronicles for $5 is pretty sweet.

Saw Playstation TVs at Walmart for $40. The bundle with LEGO Batman was $50. Still couldn't convince myself that it was worth getting. Like seriously, no Netflix app?!

I actually just got,the bundle. It's worth it for everything you get. I got an 8 gb vita card and a new PS3 controller. That alone is worth $50 in my opinion. Controllers are $55 at normal price.

Can someone definitively explain the Playstation TV to me because I still don't know what it do?

Its a Vita you play on your TV with a Dualshock 3 controller. It might do remote play with an actual Vita? Maybe? It runs apps like Netflix and such, but not well from what I've heard. I think the real bummer about it is the lack of compatibility with the device. I think there's a pretty huge list of games that flat out don't work with it, including PS1 games that are available on the Vita for whatever reason don't work with the Playstation TV. There's a reason there have been massive price cuts. There really is no point to it.

No you don't need a vita to use it. Unless Sony really pulled a fast one on us because I haven't seen anything about that

No vita is necessary to use it. From what I gather with having one for a day, it's a cool little device for those that don't have a vita. Once they bring more games it's a really nice system for how low the price is now.

Stealth Inc. 2 is free on the humble store. I'd rather play it on Vita but I can't pass up that deal

I reviewed that one on the Wii U for Rotorob. Thought it was good, but 1 was much better.

At my store, and I'm sure other stores, we updated some of the games on the $20 value wall. They added some PS4 games and XB1 games. Saw Assassin Creed Unity, Knack, Killzone, infamous, LittleBigPlanet3, Brothers, Lego Batman 3, The Order (I think that one is worth $20), Watch Dogs, Destiny, Sleeping Dogs, Terraria. Those are some of the ones I can remember. XB1 didn't have a lot of exclusives, but I did see Titanfall on there, Black Flag and Unity, and any of the multiplatform games that I listed for PS4. Kingdom Hearts II is $20 too, which I was excited to see.
