GamesCom 2015 Discussion
Gamescom is this week. Most notably Microsoft has a press conference (August 4th at 10AM Eastern). They will be showing E3 no-shows Scalebound, Quantum Break and Crackdown so that should be interesting. I believe some real footage of ReCore too, but not positive on that front (the developers hinted they would be showing something at Gamescom during an E3 interview). Anyway, I thought I'd make a topic to discuss it tomorrow.
Also EA released a little teaser and will be showing gameplay of Mirror's Edge so that is a plus! I really want to see some extended footage of this to really get a feel for how the open world will work.

I thought Quantum Break looked pretty sweet. I like when third-person shooters let me play fast and this looks to do that. The time manipulation stuff looks like a solid way to spice things up. Great cast too with a couple actors from The Wire. Or more importantly a Fringe/The Wire actor!
I also thought Tomb Raider's combat looked improved. There was a bit of The Last of Us in there. A little Splinter Cell Conviction. I just wish the AI didn't look so dumb. That holds it back. The little tomb clips looked cool, but hard to make much of them in that sort of montage.
Scalebound wasn't what I was expecting. It looked good graphically but seemed to run poorly. Seems early though so that isn't that big of a deal. Fighting alongside a dragon seems pretty cool though.
Crackdown... looked like Crackdown I guess.
I only watched these videos after. Didn't catch the conference. Will have to see if there was any more interesting news bits from today.

Mirror's Edge looks awesome. I really like some of the new moves like the one where you climb along underneath the pipe. Climbing up pipes looks a lot faster too. This (seemingly) showed off that it will have linear sections within the open world for certain missions assuming there are more of them. That would give us the best of both worlds. Some linear sections plus the open world with all the extra missions.

Final Fantasy XV's trailer was...boring. Maybe interesting in context but as a trailer not so much!
