I'm still skipping The Last of Us until I can confirm they don't pull an UC2 or UC3 and add 6,000 dlc mp trophies. But farts... there's nothing new until the massive rush of the fall this year. I might have to cave just out of desperation for a new game.

Gotta say though - the unnecessary multiplayer phenomenon is to a point where it just washes past me. It's unavoidable anyway. God of War: Ascension's I tried for about 30 minutes, haven't played it since. It just seems like a lot of time wasted from developers.

Watching the character trailers of Grand Theft Auto really make me want the game now. I always told myself I wouldn't buy it day 1, but I bet that changes.

Definitely pre-ordering Last of Us and Splinter Cell. I know Conviction got a lot of hate but I really enjoyed it so it stands to reason that I'm going to like Blacklist.

Conviction was awesome! Still on the fence with Blacklist, but I'm sure I'll warm up to it.

I'm most excited about the co op. that was my favorite part of Conviction.

K, so Aonuma said that there will be a Light World and Dark World for ALttP2, but it's still unknown if it will have the same mechanic as the SNES one. I wouldn't mind if it was the same with new areas, but anew one would be cool too.

I saw that too and it feels like to me this was at one point a remake and then became a new title. The fact that it is just the Dark World disappoints me as I was hoping they might do something else as a way to make this overworld a bit more original.

There's a kickstarter coming up for an Eternal Darkness sequel titled Shadow of the Eternals. This is great news. I wish I still had a copy of Eternal Darkness. That game was a mindfuck.

Yeah the new Zelda is cool, and hell I might evven play it. But on the other hand, I might just look at it and go "I have an emulator, I have A Link To the Past ROM"...and then wonder why I should spend money on a new game.

I'm disappointed about that, but at the same time, I'm not a fan of ALttP's controls or dungeons compared to other games in the series, but loved its overworld. So the idea of its overworld with controls and dungeons that I'll love equally really excites me.

Part of me is wondering why they don't just remake ALttP with better controls instead of making this. But another part of me is excited to see the same overworld with new stuff. And the rest of me doesn't care as long as I get to play another Zelda

Yeah I'm still really excited for it and I'm so glad this isn't just a remake. I play Zelda for Dungeons mostly and what I saw of the one here looks great. If Nintendo hadn't been copping out of overworlds for like six years now, I'd probably look the other way. But this has become an annoying pattern. Skyward Sword's I get because they were trying to do something different with it's setup. It wasn't really successful, but I get what they were trying to do. The 2 DS ones just felt like they were trying to avoid the work of having a fully fleshed out overworld. And now this? It just feels lazy. I get that this probably grew out of a straight up remake. But they should have always been shooting for a brand new 3DS Zelda anyway. Why they'd be doing another remake after the OoT one baffles me.

Edit: I know I am harping on this too much. Sometimes things like this really get under my skin for some reason and this one is just bugging me. Kind of like the Circle Pad Pro. Some things just fucking drive me nuts for some reason.

Well, I think what frustrates me is they certainly have the people and talent and money at Nintendo to make a completely new, 2D zelda without reusing anything. It's not like they're strapped for time or money or talent, so the question I ask is just "why?". And the only logical thing is for quicker money. Developing completely new assets would take longer, and while Zelda is a guaranteed money-maker, why wait to make money when you can make money now?

Part of me is still wondering if they even want to make new Zeldas at this point or are only doing it because they "have to." That's why we're getting games that are so often trying to do something different with the formula or skimping on the overworlds.
