Re: Workout Thread
Meh, I need to lose some weight, so I'll get on this. Don't know what I want to do exactly, and I don't have any equipment except 2 30 lb barbells. Probably just try to do crunches, pushups, and curls...
Re: Workout Thread
Honestly, if you're in it for weight loss...find something you like. I mean, if you're determined enough to do home workouts for days on end and enjoy that then power to you, but my advice is to find an activity to sign up for.

Re: Workout Thread
You'd be surprised what you can do with 30 lb. dumbells. One-arm rows (for your back), overhead presses (for your shoulders), Lunges (for legs) and many more. The weight won't be appropriate for all exercises, but I could help you plan out something a little more well rounded. If weight loss is the main goal though you definitely want to work some kind of cardio in even if that is just a run around the block. Any added activity will help, but some more than others.
Re: Workout Thread
OK, that was poorly stated. I'm about 5' 8" and I'm just basically trying to keep my weight around 150. I've found that I operate best when I'm at that weight or under. When I go over that I tend to start feeling lazy and sluggish.
Currently I'm only a tiny big over that. What I kinda really want to do is tone up and keep myself around that weight. I'm pretty realistic in what I can accomplish, and I'm not looking to bulk up at all.

What you doing in this thread spiddy? GETOUTTAHERE
Kidding, good on you man. Bicycle crunches suck hard. I'm not sure if I can do 50 pushups at once...

I'll fight dirty and kick you in the face and then run away clucking like a chicken. That second part is just about the mental games you see.

Does help dull things somewhat...for better or for worse. The real question is how'd you end up with a skinhead roommate?

Sounds like it. Shame you're a tiny bit too far away for a beer and storytime.

Re: Workout Thread
Thinking about switching gyms. I've been going to my University's rec center for over ten years now. As much as I love it, the drive has always made a lot less sense since I graduated and the hours are a little limited especially during break. My alumni status makes it really cheap compared to more local places though. Something I have been thinking about for a while but have not pulled the trigger on. One of my local ones has a free trial week, so I may give that a shot.
Re: Workout Thread
If you end up saving a lot in gas I'd say it's worth it, especially if the equipment is similar.
I just biked 9.2 miles through hilly terrain. It sucked.

Re: Workout Thread
Have any of you ever had a stress fracture? Trying to figure out if this leg pain is just some horrible bone bruise or a minor stress fracture since the recovery method would be different (and i can't get into a hospital clinic until probably next week)

Re: Workout Thread
Sorry I missed your post. Though I don't have much help anyway. Did you figure out what it was Twolf?
I never followed up on my previous post. I ended up staying at my University gym for the summer, but started at the new local one today and I really like it! Will have more impressions once I've really spent some time there.

Push ups, sit ups, cranking a wheel with my arms, 70 yard dash, and a mile and a half run

Re: Workout Thread
Man I love the new gym. Only thing I don't love is the Leg Press. The way the seat is situated is just uncomfortable.

Is the incline of it wrong or something?

Re: Workout Thread
Well maybe I am spoiled because my old one had a nice curved back and ways to adjust it, but the bigger issue is I feel cramped in. It does the job all the same I guess, but a downgrade nonetheless.Krubixcube wrote:Is the incline of it wrong or something?
Also if you have seen a Clean and Jerk in the Olympics maybe Twolf, a Clean is the first part. Basically bringing the bar from the ground to on top of your chest (a Power Clean) or holding it around the thigh area and bringing it to your chest (a Hang Clean). Like a shrug then snapping your elbows under and squatting it up. Not like a curl of some kind. Not sure if that made sense!
You do Power or Hang Greenman?
Re: Workout Thread
That makes sense, Trip, thanks. Just didn't know it was called that.

Re: Workout Thread
Nice. They are serious. I'm old now and I quit them! I do Hang Cleans during some cycles still though.
Re: Workout Thread
I figured I should get back into them if I want in on police academy. They're such a good workout for you.
