Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
I'm going to check it out after I watch all of the HBO shows I need to watch so that way I can cancel it. Have it on Vudu thanks to the crusher of volvos.

I think the song is tied more to the culture of Bricksburg (as part of its manipulative brain-washing for the populace) and to the film's idea of creating by following instructions/order rather than referencing anything by ICP.

I should have the LEGO movie this Saturday. Excited to finally check it out.
Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Watched Lake Mungo...that movie was SO disappointing. If you don't know what it is...that probably makes you normal, keep it that way.

Saw the first Captain America for the first time on the 4th. Pretty good movie. Did not have that wow factor like Caps 2 or Avengers had, but it was a really solid, well paced WWII era flick.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
The only movie I've seen of the Avengers heroes besides Avengers is Iron Man. Typically these heroes don't interest me all that much, and if it wasn't for Joss Whedon I probably would have never watched The Avengers as well. That makes me small, petty, and a fan boy, but I don't care. I wish Wolverine and Spider-Man could be apart of the Avengers, since those are my two favorite super heroes.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
I agree with Wolverine (or an X-Men vs Avengers movie...drool), but I always thought Spidey worked better on his own. I don't mind brief cameos from other heroes or how Nick Fury was incorporated as sort of a father figure in Ultimate comics. He doesn't really work on a team. Just watch the Ultimate cartoon, even without the sloppy writing and terrible action, the show doesn't dedicate enough time for the stuff that makes Spider-Man fun. Instead we get too much Nova and White Tiger who are insufferable there. End fanboy rant.
Also Captain America 2 is well worth seeing. My sister even liked it and she fell asleep during Avengers, Dark Knight, and Spider-Man 2.

I watched Frozen and enjoyed it quite a bit. What else is good on the animated front in recent years?

Yeah, How to Train Your Dragon for sure. I think you'd really like it, Trip. Up was also really great but I haven't watched it again because the first few minutes made me cry like a baby, haha... (._.)

Yeah I really want to watch How to Train Your Dragon, but am kind of cheap when it comes to movies and couldn't find a good way to do so short of buying the blu-ray. Will try and catch it though.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Brave wasn't as bad as everyone seemed to make it out to be. To me it felt a lot more like a Disney movie as opposed to a Pixar movie. I've owned Monster's University since the week it came out and still haven't watched it yet.
Although it isn't recent I"ll mention it just in case you haven't watched it, Monster House. Reminded me of being a kid, kind of like an R.L. Stine Goosebump book.

I never saw 2 but the first was indeed a great movie. Made by the guys who did The Lego Movie too.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
well i dunno it's just the style of 80's movies kind of doesnt hold up as well imo, but Breakfast Club doesn't really feel like an 80's movie

In her defense 30 years is a pretty long time.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
That's true, there is SOMETHING about a lot of 80's movies that feels more dated than films from the late 60's/70's.

I still say it's the best decade for movies ever. Don't see anything topping it either.

I usually blame it on 80s music.
The animated movie top 5 got me to watch The Wind Rises. Not sure how to feel. I guess my main gripe is that a big chunk of the movie is spent on a romantic subplot that falls kind of flat. The girl's only personality trait is "she loves Jiro." Still, the animation and music are great, and there were some really brilliant moments, too. I'm glad that Miyazaki's last movie was something quite different than his usual work.
Also watched Jackie Brown. Not Tarantino's best but solid nonetheless.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
I think that stuff from the 80's just tends to stand out a lot when compared to stuff from other decades. It can either be really good, or really bad. I don't think theres much in between.
Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
So, I watched The Lego Movie. My fucking face when
Overall - Really fucking awesome. Had me laughing so hard.
Also saw Pacific Rim. It was shit alright. None of the designs were interesting and having almost all of the fights take place in water was really lame. I counted about 4-5 Evangelion references though, they were the best bits.
- uhh:
- They're in the western area and Batman shows up. I didn't even know it was him, I just saw the vehicle and went "I'M BATMAN" and then it was actually fucking Batman. It was fucking incredible. Also "This is not how Batman dies" is the best line.
