New Rank System

Hey everyone. We finally have a rank system. Every 100 posts you will get a new rank. The ranks are based around member’s favorite games and some other forum favorites (and a few other forum inside jokes). Me and volvocrusher came up with the current ones. It is only implemented up to 1500 posts, but we will be adding more.

There will eventually be a custom rank level where you can ask for a rank of your own choosing (I haven’t quite decided on the post number). Making a particularly memorable post (good or bad) may earn you a temporary special rank as well.

I’d also like all the members to get involved. So we will be having a competition. You can PM me ideas for ranks that you’d like to be included (you can include up to 3 ideas). Based on whatever games you’d like… perhaps a favorite of yours. You are welcome to try a non-game reference if it would have some relevance to this forum. The best five (maybe more) will be included in the next wave of ranks (1500-3000… hopefully lots of us will reach these ranks one day!). We also decided to forgo picking a Final Fantasy rank since many of the members here will do a better job of that, so including a choice for Final Fantasy is a good idea. The best new rank will get some sort of prize… to be determined. Probably just a PSN code/card or something.

For an idea of the kind of ranks we are trying for you can see what other members currently have as a rank (I’d rather leave the ones no one currently has as a surprise). We want things that reference a video game, but not too blatantly. Try and be a little subtle or clever about it. I will probably just leave the competition open for a month. Okay. Hope you guys enjoy this new addition to the forum.

PS. I just implemented it now, so if there are any issues, I will be ironing them out soon.

Kind of depends on context but you can try it.

I don't think I'm clever or funny enough for this but I'll try to think of some Final Fantasy ranks. Gonna go back to organizing my ascot closet for now.

I'll try to think of some while at work today. Because I'd rather be thinking of more important things like this than doing work for that shithole.

Ah, that would explain why I don't know it.

I was trying to put the ranks for people's favorites pretty close out in front of them, but I had to put some ranks under the handful that were like over 700 posts already and some will have to be in the next wave. It was tricky, but I think it generally worked out well.

Bret, Bannen, chocobot... you guys know you want to send me some rank ideas.

I'd be perfectly okay if Bannen was in charge of coming up with rank names from now on.

I have entries from San Andreas, Avid, Spiddy, Twolf, and Kay. I just want to make sure someone else didn't try to send me some and we had a message mishap in the system or something. So let me know if I didn't mention you and you sent me some. Also I'll give it until Monday for any more entries in case people still want to get in on it. Then I will discuss it with Greenman soon and we will figure out a winner and I will try and get your prize to you this coming week.

Also thinking of just doing a poll with all the Final Fantasy suggestions and you guys can vote for a couple to include if you guys are up for that. Or even just brainstorm some together in that thread if you want. That series is obviously way out of my wheelhouse.
