I'd definitely be up for that. Halfway through the fourth right now. With school I've slowed down a lot but I'll probably be done before the year's out... how long is the fifth book?

So I finished World War Z...I didn't really get the hype to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it was extremely well thought out, and had some very interesting scenarios but as a whole I just wasn't gripped.

Having read the book I highly doubt they have much to do with each other...

I believe it is the longest though only slightly longer than A Storm of Swords.

Due to the workload this week (fucking high school football) I haven't progressed as much as I wanted to but so far A Dance of Dragons is great.

Also, I purchased Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States via Google Play's store for $5 (part of the Banned Books sale). Always wanted to read that.

It's good but a bit dry at parts, but the sheer amount of letters and quotes he gets are amazing. So far the most shocking stuff has been toward the beginning, and while I don't entirely agree with everything he says he certainly makes some very interesting arguments.

Re: What have you been reading?

My friend and I watched this show FlashForward a few years back. We didn't particularly like it, but it was based on a book. He got me this book for my birthday and I am now reading it as a break from the Black Company books (I think I needed a change of pace). I didn't know how different it would be from the TV show, but that is for the better. Pretty interesting so far and I have maybe 60 pages left or so.

This will bring my finished books for the year to 9. So maybe 12 is still within reach (I know not the loftiest of goals, but still... plus 4 were in the 1000+ page area that must count for something).

I've been reading Paddle Your Own Canoe, by Nick Offerman a.k.a. Ron Swanson. It's pretty hilarious so far.

Caught up with Walking Dead. New issue comes out tomorrow, can't wait. Andrea and Carl are such fucking badasses in those last few issues. So basically it's the opposite of the show.

Finished my third book of the month this morning, Dreams of Steel. Was actually really good. Had a different main narrator than the series typically does and it was really cool to get inside that character's head a bit.

I'd consider reading comics reading a book. If you get the collection of an arc, they could be 4-5 issues long, and it's a good lengthy read. Someday I'd like to read The Walking Dead comics.

Finished A People's History of the United States...god that book will make you angry about America.

In the meantime, still reading Cryptonomicon which is still pretty good though at times it devolves into what I can only call "nerd masturbation". Read it and you will see.

Just bought 3 books off of Barnes & Noble's Nook store. For under $12, I got The Shining (own it on paperback, but wanted it digitally), Doctor Sleep, and Brad Sanderson's The Way of Kings (again, own it on paperback). I need to finish Dance of Dragons so I can get to these. I predict lots of reading for Thanksgiving weekend.

Haven't read in a while, but jumped back to that series I was working on. Wasn't too into the idea of a spinoff which the Silver Spike sort of is, but its growing on me.

I finally finished The Silver Spike. I ordered some new books so that kind of lit my fire to finish that one up.

Today I got the compilation of short stories called Dangerous Women. It has a novella set in the Game of Thrones world, so I'm reading that first, but figured I might find some other authors I like in there. I know it has one by Abercrombie who did the First Law books Twolf mentioned in here before.

Saw your photo on twitter. Looks interesting.

I finished The Shining by Stephen King over the break and started the sequel, Doctor Sleep near the end of the break. It's pretty good so far.

I also bought a few e-books that went on sale during the break: Never Go Back by Lee Child (Jack Reacher book), Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and Inferno by Dan Brown. All of those were super cheap; I couldn't resist.

I'm still reading the book by the Decemberist singer (I think singer any ways) called Wildwood. The overall story seems really interesting, but he just writes really boring dialogue and tries to sound too smart at times. It's supposed to be a kids book but I bet 80% of most adults don't know what some of these words he's using are.

I got a hardcover illustrated version of The Hobbit for Christmas and I want to start reading it so bad. I feel like I need to finish the other 300 pages of above book since I've read 200 out of the 500. Yawn, just like his dialogue.
