Re: What have you been reading?

Been reading Good Omens and if you like magical realism or Neil Gaiman's other stuff, or just like things that poke fun at religion I'd highly recommend it.

Given I'm only about 35% through or so (that's reading on Kindles for you, no more page numbers just percents) but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Finished Good Omens, which was great. Read through Yakuza Moon, which was shit, now I'm working on Anansi Boys.

Finished The Black Company. The last forty pages were really great. Very satisfying ending. I'm looking forward to jumping into the next book, but first I will be reading 1984 which I started this morning and seems really neat so far.

Anansi Boys finished, it's like a lighter, more character driven American Gods. Though a lot lighter on the supernatural element. but it's a lot of fun, check it out if you're a Gaiman fan. Hmmmm, what to read next?

Reading The Vorrh...that shit is deep. Especially as I've been reading easy reads for the last month or so (thus why I've gotten through about a book a week)

I just finished Shadows Linger. I am loving this series. I will probably jump into The White Rose tonight.

You know what I started it and then ended up going back to The Black Company trilogy. I could join in a chapter by chapter read probably but if you want to just discuss it fully don't let me hold you back. I'll get to it eventually.

Kind of dropped the ball on reading lately, but I did finally finish Shadow Games. Pretty good, but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first three.

Finishing up The First Law series finally. It's good but a few things are being summed up very quickly like the author thought "Oh shit...I introduced that at some point didn't I? Uh...well, they're all dead now so there"

I'm reading a book I bought a while back purely for the cover, plus the pages looked awesome too. I know you're not supposed to do that, but fuck it. I think it's a young adult book, it is by a member of the band The Decemberist. The book is called Wildwood, and it's pretty good from what I read. It kind of has a Narnia vibe to it, and when I read it I picture it being a movie Tim Burton would direct.

Finished up The First Law...fucking bleak, but I recommend it if you like fantasy. Gonna check out World War Z now. If I finish it I'll have reached my goal of reading 24 books this year! =D

Thanks Spiddy =D. Tell me if you come across that Japanese history one by chance though, I'd still love to read it.

I was hoping to finish at least one book a month this year and I have definitely not kept that pace. Admittedly the Ice and Fire books were long, but still. My football watching has cut into my book reading deep this month which is kind of a bummer. Maybe I end up burning through some and getting back on pace though.

Having a train commute is one of the only reasons I've been tearing through books.

Digital, but you're right about the pricing. I keep waiting for the GOG or Steam of e-books to emerge.

I've really only just got back into reading a year ago and have been using physical copies.

I don't read a lot, but it is always physical when I do.  I like having it in my hand, seeing the cover, feeling the weight.  Rupert Giles can help sum it up for me...

Yeah, physical is better, but when I know I'm going to be packing up and moving country to country again digital is pretty handy.

I do both. I recently bought A Dance With Dragons on my Nook and I'm thankful I don't have to carry that tomb around all the time.

I've been doing all e-books lately. Starting Game of Thrones at the same time has definitely helped convert me. Plus, books are the fastest downloads! You can get hours and hours of reading downloaded instantly over any kind of internet!

Hey Mot where are you in the Ice and Fire novels? I'd love to discuss theories and stuff with some people who are finished all five out so far. I think at the moment it is just me and avid (you have read them all right avid?).
