Finished Under the Skin and moved on to Contact. Haven't quite gotten into it yet, not because it's not good but it's dense, and I can tell it's going to take a long time to crack it.

Re: What have you been reading?
Ordered TV (The Book). Basically a couple critics I read online ranked the best 100 shows of all-time and its got essays about them and little supplemental lists and stuff in it. Really excited to get it on Tuesday.
Re: What have you been reading?
That does sound like an interesting book, but I would find myself probably not interested in the shows that I don't like. Normally when they have similar lists online, I just skim through them until I get to something that I like.

The book is pretty good. I have skipped around to read the essays on some of my favorites first, but I'm working through the book in order too. Going to skip a few that I plan to watch at some point. Will read those some day in the future.

I think it's interesting to understand why something is considered good or popular even if you don't like it though. Kind of gain an appreciation for it even if you don't connect to it personally.

Re: What have you been reading?
Oh I agree. I just don't think it would be worth spoiling some moments from The Sopranos or Deadwood or Mad Men, just so I can read an essay on it in a book now. I plan to watch them someday. (Maybe your comment was more directed towards Bret though?)
Re: What have you been reading?
I got Sharp Ends the First Law short story collection because I needed another book to start reading and not finish.
Re: What have you been reading?
I started Helter Skelter - written by the prosecuting DA for the Manson Murders. That is some disturbing shit...very good though. I like True Crime books though, so take that however you will.

Re: What have you been reading?
Been really trying to get back to reading. I finished Sharp Ends which was cool. Short story collections are too easy to put down between stories or I think I'd have finished it sooner.
I've been missing Veronica Mars lately, so I tried to see if I could fill that void with a book. I googled "books like Veronica Mars" and found a YA novel compared to it a couple times and bought that for cheap. It definitely has the whole high school sleuth/murder mystery thing, but the lead is not Veronica. It is also recent and I think I have a harder time enjoying a story with a teen of today as the protagonist than someone like Veronica who was closer to being a teen when I was.
I also picked up a book by the Veronica Mars creator hoping to scratch that itch and it has served much better. I'm only partway through that, but I'm enjoying that quite a bit.

Re: What have you been reading?
I totally get you on the whole relating to teens thing. Think of how much more we'd like the Scream show if that show was on during our high school days.
I don't buy a lot of comics, but I stocked a bunch up before I began reading them. Currently I'm reading through the Future Quest comics. It's a cool concept, all of the old Hanna Barbera cartoons meet up in one story. Space Ghost, Johnny Quest and company, Birdman, Mightor, Herculoids, and more. Enjoying that a lot. I consider it worth mentioning that I'm reading that because I have 12 issues to read to catch up.
After that I have a 6 issue Firefly arc to read, and when I'm finished with that I'm gonna read Jason Segal's 3rd Nightmare book. It's a children's series similar to Goosebumps, I'm a sucker for children's books.

Re: What have you been reading?
So I got my tablet and it is really nice for reading. Comics look awesome on it and it is nice for regular books too. I've basically been reading some of the free stuff on Prime reading for now. On the comics front that has been Ms. Marvel and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. And then they offer you a free book each month among like five new releases. I picked out this book Trespassing as it sounded the most interesting. It is a psychological thriller of sorts. I did buy the second Witcher short story collection on there too just for something else to use it for. I also started the Uncharted novel which has been good though I haven'[t read it much this week because of just wanting to use my new tablet.
Re: What have you been reading?
Borrowed from the library: Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen, Petty by Warren Zanes and Being Wagner by Simon Callow. Pretty much musician biographies kick right now.
