You can use common notebook HD's can you not? I haven't done it myself but remember looking into it years ago and remember it looking pretty painless.

Just seems like it would be a pain to put in a new hard drive, and I'm afraid I'll mess something up and lose everything.

Started playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 today. I didn't hate XIII as much as most, but it definitely was one of my least favorite Final Fantasy games (VIII probably being my least favorite). Seems to be all right from the start.

I just did the whole HD swap the other day. Just as long as you do the back-up, all of your ps3 save files can be restored to the new hard drive. I had to manually do my PS1/PS2 saves though. Quite easy. I just don't understand why I have to re-download ALL of my game data and patches :/

There are still a few early era PS3 JRPGs I need to try...and BRET, you love JRPGs. Did you ever try Resonance of Fate?

I never have. I thought that game had some problems from what I remember. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

Always wanted to play that Star Ocean game. I've wanted to play all of them actually.

I played 3 (I own it actually) but didn't like it much...found the story really boring, the battle system a bit repetitive as well.

I liked Resonance of Fate. It had a cool battle system that was different from anything else and makes you feel smart when you get the hang of it. It will really kick your ass at times though. I liked the steampunk setting too, but I don't have much to say about the story. OH and you can change your characters clothes. Little things like that make me happy Razz

It's an annoyance of mine in all games that are meant to take place over months and years that characters never change clothes. I get the characters outfits were very carefully designed but design like...3. Final Fantasy characters walking around in their skimpy outfits in snow fields kind of breaks my immersion a little bit.

You know what nailed character costumes? Ni No Kuni. That's one sweet game.

Ni no Kuni, as was said above, did a great job in changing your characters' outfits for the climate they were in.

One thing I always found hilarious was how Dragon Quest VIII offered Jessica a Magic Bikini in the last town your party travels through before they start travelling through snowy lands.

Replaying Miles Edgeworth just makes me miss Godot. That guy's probably one of my favorite video game characters ever now.

I've racked up 23 hours and 32 minutes in Dynasty Warriors 8 already. It's only been out since Tuesday. I might need help. It's like cocaine to me OMG.

Depends on the game and its length tbh. I wont really run through a 20 hour game like that most of the time

For some reason I can never sit down and play for hours straight lately. Something always comes up no matter what day it is.

I remember when kotor 2 came out and I just stayed in my room with soda and chips and played constantly for a few days... It was bad. I need to do that again sometime haha.

Re: Now Playing

Post by BretBaber on Thu Jul 18, 2013 9:28 am

I usually just play for an hour at a time. Role playing games are the only games I can put a good amount of hours in. First day I started Final Fantasy XIII-2 I put in 3 hours which is better than what I'd put in other games. The only game I think I have ever plopped a lot of time into was Ni No Kuni. I beat that game within 3 weeks and put in 60 hours over those 3 weeks. I was playing it for 5 hours at a time at some points. If I didn't have a job I probably would have beat it in a week.

Then there's games like The Last of Us which I enjoyed, but took a month to beat a 16 hour game. It's not always easy for me to find time.

The last game I binged on was Bioshock Infinite but that was spring break, the middle of the week, and my birthday so I had a lot of excuses not to leave the house...

I usually only play an hour at a time with rare exceptions. With a great game or one I've been waiting for for too long, when I stop playing, I will realize I don't want to do anything else and start playing again soon, but it is rare.

The Riddick games seem good enough. I enjoyed what I played but it definitely shows it's age and there's some really weird shit going on sometimes. I kept dying in one part because apparently barrels explode if you touch them while dragging a body... ok then? Maybe the second game fixes that

Antichamber is breaking my brain right now. Probably the coolest puzzle game I've played in a while

Any Wii U owners playing Earthbound? I downloaded it the day it came out, and I've really been enjoying it. I remember seeing it back in 1995 when it originally hit the US, but I was a poor teenager back then and didn't have the scratch to buy it. Plus, I didn't really get back into console RPGs until my dad's physical therapist loaned me Final Fantasy III/VI in October of that year, and was more into Zelda: ALttP and Mortal Kombat II.
