I finished Narcos on Netflix, and it was excellent the whole way through. My only complaint is that I wish it would have just been a one season series, because I'm a bit worried that the second season might drag on. Hopefully that's not the case though. I highly recommend watching this series.

I have that in my queue. Just haven't had a chance to get to it. Looked really good.

It is. A lot of subtitles for those that don't like them.

So I downloaded Rick and Morty to give it a shot and I must say it is DEFINITELY up my alley humor-wise. I thought it was going to be another Adventure Time, something that I'd like in theory but just can't get into for whatever reason but this time the humor was so well timed in addition to being weird and the characters were funny and yeah, great stuff.

Roommate and I watched Scream on Netflix.

One of the characters stood out to me. He's a guy who researches the local murder stories, and his lines are always poking at the fourth wall, kind of echoing what you're thinking about as you're watching it. Also, he owns a game store that has Sunset Overdrive playing in the background, and he references The Last of Us.

Just a fun show to watch with Halloween coming up.

New dramas have been so blah this Fall. BBC America has a good new one called The Last Kingdom. Sort of historical fiction I guess in the mold of a Vikings or something like that. Based on some books I have never read. Really impressed with the first two episodes so far.

Re: General TV Show Discussion

The Scream TV show was pretty good.  Trip and I discussed them  a lot via texts when the show was running on air.  It did a pretty good job emulating the Scream movies over the span of a TV season.  The killer at the end was terribly obvious though as was the motive, something I never really found from any of the movies.  Maybe in the movies you guessed who the killer was, it was just a blind guess, but I'd be shocked if you guessed the motive.  Not sure if we ever discussed that, Trip.  Did you ever guess the killers in any of the movies or the motives?

I blind guessed one of the killers in Scream 1, but it was just luck. While I think they made it super obvious who the killer was in the show, it is much easier to hide that in a 2 hour movie compared to a TV season five times that length. You also don't stop to think about who it is during the film like you do between episodes. I have certainly seen TV shows do it better than the Scream show did  too though.

Honestly the finale soured me a bit on the whole thing, but I don't think the show did a great job of emulating the movies. I wrote a thing on it here if either of you want to check it out. This may seem harsh, but with so much great TV out there I didn't really feel I could recommend it to my readers. Admittedly this show was a bigger hit with people younger than me (which Mot falls into), so maybe I am just a bitter old Scream fan telling you punk kids and your direct messages to get off my lawn.

Haha, Trip, you're right. I mean Netflix advertised this to me at the beginning of October, me and two roommates watched the first episode and there was a gorgeous girl in a bikini who got killed—so yeah we watched the rest of it.

For some reason I thought that this was a Netflix original; I didn't realize it was on MTV beforehand.

I watched Master of None on Netflix. New show by and starring Aziz Ansari. I really enjoyed it. Great mix of comedy and drama which I always love. Tackles a wide variety of interesting topics from first generation American stuff to more expected relationship/dating topics. Some really spotty acting at times though (it features a lot of comedians and Aziz's real-life parents). Otherwise I thought it was great. Aziz and the main girl have great chemistry too. Their dialog while together almost feels too cute, but then they have these very real arguments which brings it back down to Earth.

I have no shame in admitting this, I started up Gilmore Girls. For some reason that I cannot explain I have always wanted to watch this show. Pilot episode was pretty good.

Trip, Aziz doesn't act super goofy like Tom does on Parks does he? At first I really liked Tom's character, but eventually he started to get on my nerves.

Well his character here isn't nearly as over the top as Tom was, but they definitely share a bit of DNA which I assume is coming from Aziz himself. He is way more grounded in Master of None. I also found him annoying at times in Parks, but didn't here. I can't guarantee that will be the case with everyone though.

Been catching up on Arrow/Flash (still one back on Arrow). I feel compelled to watch these in the order they air, but sometimes I'd much rather just watch a few of one in a row when I am behind. I know outside of occasional events, the crossover stuff is minimal, but I just sort of feel I must watch them in order. Same with The CW vampire shows I watch. I guess I just wanted to complain about this slight annoyance somewhere. Also I guess minor Flash spoilers:

Spoiler:
I love alternate universes so that has been pretty sweet this year. Wish we'd see more of Earth 2 though.

That you said that in the spoiler Trip makes me surprised you don't read more comics. DC specializes in that and Marvel just finished a big event with about twenty miniseries dedicated to that.

Yeah, I'm sure I'd enjoy them. I find comics to be a bit too expensive given how little time it takes me to read them.

I agree. Buffy comics used to cost $3. Then this past year they raised it to $3.50. And shortly after that again to $4. If I wasn't a hardcore Buffy fan I'd stop reading.

I watched the first episode of Jessica Jones. Seemed okay. I like private eye stuff like this. The villain seemed pretty interesting from what I could gather. I will try to watch some more when I get the chance. Also hoping to get to Man in the High Castle this weekend.

I'm wondering how these Marvel shows will end up being on the movies. Haven't finished Daredevil but it was very self contained with a few nods to Avengers. But once Marvel starts hiring new, cheaper actors (in not Robert Downey Jr) for bigger contracts I can see this changing. Though if it will is still a mystery.

Finished the first season of Les Revenants. Sort of reminds me of the better Lost episodes in terms of mixing mystery with character development. Good stuff. And I don't think it'll start bending over backwards to extend it's run like that show did. There's an american remake which is supposedly not bad but that was canceled after one season

I just finished watching Master of None, Aziz Ansari's Netflix show. I was really impressed. Definitely one of my favorite new shows this year!

Also, if any show were to win 'comeback of the year' it would definitely be The Walking Dead. That show has been on fire this season. Mid season finale is tonight. I'm sure something ridiculous will happen. I almost gave up on that show too... at least 5 times!

Been watching through all of Archer with the fiance. She wanted to watch through them all, because we always catch random episodes on FX or Comedy Central.

We're up to the Archer Vice season and god damn, its so funny. I don't remember laughing that hard the first time I watched it. He's just so gleefully dickish in that season. Plus giving Krieger more screen time is always a good thing.
