It's no where near as good as Boy Meets World. The best parts are really Corey or Topanga. I'm really hoping for some Eric Matthews appearances.

I've started watching Fargo. It's awesome. Haven't seen the movie that recently, but the plot definitely has a lot of new twists on it. Freeman and Thornton are both great and perfect counterparts to William H Macy and Steve Buscemi. And thank god they toned down some of the accents. I wouldn't be able to stand hearing that for 10 hours.

I'd say it tops True Detective, but that decision would probably be a lot harder if the finale wasn't 90% generic cop show material

I liked the Fargo finale a lot more than the True Detective one. Not sure which show was better. The first six episodes of True Detective were near-perfect. It's a tough call.

I dunno about that. Pretty much all I remember about the first few episodes of True Detective were monologues and the last 5 minutes of each one. It felt like they only decided to make it a one season plot after they'd already completed a few episodes. They paid off somewhat later but so much felt like filler at the time

Yeah I could see feeling that way. If television is really good and entertaining, I don't care if it is what one might call filler I suppose. I looked at it as a brilliant character study where each episode unraveled more layers about them and how they ended up where they are now. So the slow plotting didn't really bother me. Plus the performances were so good. I just thought it lost momentum and intrigue when it became purely current day. Though there were still some unforgettable scenes in the final episode I thought despite it being like you mentioned a more standard cop show at that point.

Filler usually has to make up a lot for me to not notice it's filler. A good example would be The Fly in Breaking Bad. Not much happens, but it is a nice pause to see just how insane Walt really is. Though I think I became a lot more critical towards filler after Spectacular Spider-Man spoiled me with two filler free seasons.

Hey Bret, have you tried Silicon Valley? It might be worth a look while you have HBO. New comedy by Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead) about a tech startup. A little meh to start, but really turns into a fun show by the end of the first season. Only eight half hour episodes I believe.

When Game of Thrones season 4 first aired there was a free week of HBO, and so naturally I watched Game of Thrones. I believe this show aired right after it, and I caught glimpses of it as it was on in the background. Depending on how much time I have left with this month of HBO after I watch Girls (halfway through it) and True Detective (nothing yet) I'll give it a go. HBO shows never disappoint.

Been watching Adventure Time on Netflix. It's pretty good, and I'm sure it'll only get better. I really like Lumpy Space Princess and the Ice King. Cartoon Network has winners in this and Regular Show.

(This isn't just regarding Buffy like the below sentence states, I know I probably get a bit tiring with my Buffy praise, just hoping people see the 3rd paragraph before they just read the first sentence and split)

Just finished Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I think it might be my favorite show.

I've slowly been watching all of the seasons again, no need to hurry through it since I know what happens.  I've mentioned it before but this time was a little more interactive because I made a quiz for each episode/season.  Love the Buffster.

Any ways, I was planning on starting Firefly and I know Trip mentioned trying to go through shows together and was wondering if anyone was interested in doing the same.  Regardless if anyone joins me I'll be watching it because I want to get a catch up on the show and then watch the movie and read the 6 comics that I bought but haven't read because I wanted this refresher.  The comics take place after the movie, thus the desire for the refresher.  I'm hoping to watch an episode a night and discuss if anyone wants to join.

Sure I'd be in. One episode a night seems a little fast for a new viewer like me (I've never watched it all before). I'd prefer a slower schedule, but I will try either way.

Slower's fine by me too, because I'm about to start up True Detective and I'm watching Spectacular Spider-Man as well so my television schedule is pretty full.

How often do you guys think we should watch an episode? Guess I never really thought about discussing the episodes, so an episode a day would make discussions rather non-existent.

I was scared to read back through this thread cuz spoilers and I'm NOT caught up on TV at all. But rank the following shows in terms of "is it worth watching"-ness (since you guys are more versed in TV than I am):

Hannibal, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, True Detective

Thank you!

I'd say:

1. True Detective
2. Orange is the New Black
3. Hannibal
4. House of Cards

I have not watched all of 3 or 4 though, but based on what I've seen I'd rank them like that. I think you'd love True Detective.

@Bret: I'd say we discuss a new episode every three days? I mean people could always watch it faster as long as we tried to stick to the schedule for discussing to allow people to keep up and actually have some back and forth in the discussion each episode. Again I'd be up for whatever though.

Sometimes I come in here and recommend shows. I'd do the opposite for The Leftovers. What a mess of a show this is.

Hey Trip, if/when you get to season 3 of Six Feet Under I'd love to hear what you think. The finale in particular filled a very Sopranos-shaped whole in my TV life

Not sure if anyone else here watches Wilfred, but I don't even know what to think of this show anymore. It used to just be a simple comedy about a guy dealing with his neighbor's dog being a guy in a dog suit who everyone else saw as a regular dog. But now they're trying to make the show really deep in explaining what the fuck Wilfred is and I'm not sure if they can pull it off. Hopefully they can make this weird plot worth it.

Damn right I'm happy! I've never owned the DVD's (bought the first 3 I believe), but I know there's episodes I've never seen because Fox and TBS only ever seem to air the same episodes (not that it's a problem, because I could watch a single episode every day for 30 days and still laugh). If there will never be a blu-ray version, this is the other alternative, but for the love of god please make it in HD and widescreen format. TBS clearly has proven that the show was shot in widescreen, so honor us with that.

Here is some stuff I've been watching:

Six Feet Under: I finished Season 2 which was a big step down from 1. Brenda and Gabe's stories just went completely insane. I also kind of missed the visions of the people they give funerals too that was a big part of Season 1. Season 3 is great so far, but the premiere was pretty weird (in a good way) and I'm waiting on the fallout of some of that stuff still.

The Strain: A different style of vampire show, but it is pretty average overall.

The Leftovers: Super boring and frustrating. They have told a couple of compelling stories, but they had to focus entirely on side characters to do so. The Guilty Remnant is the worst thing on TV.

Married/You're the Worst: Both solid yet unremarkable comedies on FX.

Rectify: The best show on TV this summer. Everyone should watch this.

The Bridge: I'm bored and have fallen behind.

The Killing: First half of the season has been good. I await it falling apart at the end like usual.

You guys ever watch crime shows (real ones, not stuff like CSI) and just wonder what the writers do to research the crime scene stuff. Must have to really pour yourself into some dark shit for a while to get into that mindset.

Marathoned True Detective. Really liked it, would give it a 7.5/10 if I had to give it a number, which I don't, but I will for the sake of the forum.
