Finally trying to catch up on Dexter. Just recently watched seasons 5 & 6. (Yeah I know I am way behind haha). I think both season are pretty good but for some reason I heard others have been down on them.

watched one of the Gob episodes of Arrested Development. Admittedly pretty damn funny.

Am immensly enjoying season 6 of The Sopranos thus far. Was this the season that was hit during the writer's strike? Don't say any story specifics if it was as I'm only 6 episodes in, but just curious.

Glad you're still watching Buffy. After it gets out of season 1, it just gets better and better. Joss Whedon hits his storytelling stride, and you can tell there's no more pressure to make it a show about a bunch of random monsters.

To krubix, I can't remember if it was during the stirke or not. I think this season aired around 2005/2006 if that helps.

Janus and AJ...added one more to the list of characters on The Sopranos that are so well acted (or at least written, or cast) that they get under my skin and make me angry.

I'm sure you got to the part where Paulie says to AJ, "Hey, Van Helsing!" I loved that line. There's not one bad actor/character from that show. Phil's a cock smoke, I hate him.

When's The Wire going to end up on blu-ray? I don't understand HBO! WHY?!

I know you're in Japan, but here we can watch The Wire in glorious HD on HBO Go. It's a wonderful thing!

It was shot on film, I don't understand why it doesn't exist on Blu Ray for me to own forever and ever ;_;

PS: Good to see you Matt, long time no see...at least it feels that way.

I remember David Simon saying he hates it in HD and doesn't want there to be a blu ray or something like that. Something about it losing the documentary feel I think. I suppose the ball is more in HBO's court, but I remember shaking my head when I heard those comments.

I mean, I understand it was deliberately shot in 4:3 to kind of get that low-fi crime drama feel but it wasn't shot documentary style. If he hated HD he shouldn't have shot it in film =p

Plus, if he oversaw the transfer he could leave as much grain and crap in as he wants. I do agree some HD stuff is overly cleaned up.

Re: General TV Show Discussion

I finished up Alias this week. It's a good show, but drove me a little crazy at times. It has some stupid sci-fi type twists now and then and well for spies they can be a bit incompetent sometimes. Enjoyed it overall though.

Looking through the queue I settled on getting back to Dollhouse. I checked out the pilot way back when it aired, but lost track of it (missed some recordings or something... I forget). Anyway, I'm back and will be going through it this time. It may not be Buffy, but I figure Bret will be happy I'm checking out any Whedon show.

I am happy, but I would have been happier if you gave it ratings when it was one so that way it still could have been on. It's a good show, but I will say it's Whedon's worst show. First season was only a half season, and it never got the chance to grow into what it could have been. It had some really cool concepts, and in a way it was kind of like The Matrix with the dolls, which isn't surprising since The Matrix is Mr. Whedon's favorite movie. Glad you're watching it Trip!

I recall losing interest with the show after season 3 when it first aired. Those first 2 seasons are brilliant but there was a point that the show crawled up its own ass and never came out.

Been watching season 3 of Strike Back on Cinemax. It's a British-produced espionage series with a shit load of gunfights, explosions and some T&A for good measure (which explains its appearance on Cinemax). Nothing really thought-provoking but a lot of fun and well-done.

No judgment here since I sometimrs watch Pawn Stars and the one where the two guys rummage around attics and junk yards. Hey Trip, you should consolidate the TV stuff since there are a good amount of threads. I don't watch enough to participate much, but it'd be easier that way when I did.

*edit* Blahhh! I meant duck dynasty not duck tales. Duck tales is awesome.
I will probably do this. If we make more threads maybe there will be more discussion. Maybe add some Top Fives like with the movie ones.

That sounds about right. It went downhill after the first two seasons. I usually finish stuff regardless, but the latter seasons tested my patience at times. I did like the series finale though.

I watched Buffy today. Like always, it felt so good. If anyone ever watches the show, I have quizzes made up for each episode like a little nerd.

Also, started Breaking Bad and I'm on the second season. Great show, hopefully none of the newer seasons get spoiled for me before I get to the finale.

I stopped watching about halfway through Season 2 of Once Upon a Time as I was a little bored and my DVR needed some room. I may give it another shot now that it is on Netflix.

A success!

I'd like to get more TV discussions going and moving them to their own section. What will people be watching coming up? I was thinking a Korra thread (starts on the 13th) would be good. Does anyone else watch The League? When we all get caught up on New Girl that might be good. Though comedies are a little tougher to chat about I find. I could make questionaire/top fives for old shows too like maybe Favorite Seinfeld episodes. Stuff like that.

I'd like a Top 5 Futurama actually since the series finale is on Wednesday. That show's been so great to me. A Korra discussion would be awesome too, heard it's going to focus on the gangs that were shown in the pilot.

I'm excited for Sunny as well!

New shows I'm planning on watching are Shield and the new one with Sarah Michelle Gellar. It should be obvious to anyone that reads anything from me why I am watching that show.

Other shows that are on that I try to watch are Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Rec, Hell on Wheels (falling behind on the new season though), It's Always Sunny, Regular Show, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

If anyone ever wants to talk about these shows I'm game... Buffy, Sopranos, Seinfeld, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Firefly. They might be over, but they are always in my heart.

Bret you watch Regular Show too? Finally I have someone else to talk to on how awesome this last season has been. Almost every episode brings something back from a past season in an awesome way like Party Pete.
