What games are you most excited for this year? You can go with a top five or a top ten if you'd prefer.

1. Batman: Arkham Knight

Because I'm a huge fan of the Arkham games, City in particular, and this looks like the ultimate refinement of City. One of the games that started the fire in me to purchase a PS4 in the first place.

2. Uncharted 4

I love this franchise, I'm intrigued by what story they can tell this time and that 15 min. gameplay video was promising.

3. Just Cause 3

JC2 is one of the great time-sucks (so much that I still haven't finished it but I take a weekly crack at it). The developers reportedly want to give us as big a package as the previous game and the fact that they're implementing mechanics and abilities that they couldn't pull off last time (which is saying something, considering all the crazy shit you can do in that game) just makes me giddy.

4. Metal Gear Solid V

Because its MGS. All the more reason for me to finish 4 and Ground Zeroes.

5. No Man's Sky

Even if its just a big-budget version of Proteus (which I doubt it will be), that would be enough for me to bite. It just looks and sounds amazing.

6. Bloodborne

I've yet to jump on the Dark Souls-style bandwagon (the upcoming Dark Souls 2 collection is an honorable mention) but this looks like a blast and I'd love to do co-op on this.

7. The Witcher 3

I haven't played the previous games (XBL Games For Gold will provide Witcher 2 later this month) but it looks promising.

8. Drawn To Death

It looks so damn fun. Also, I'm curious as to how Jaffe's company and Sony will implement a new approach to F2P.

9. Rime

It's purdy. Scratching the same exploring, immersive itch as No Man's Sky and made me think of Ico.

10. Shovel Knight

'Cause I want to know what every one is talking about.

HM: Street Fighter V, The Forest, What Remains of Edith Finch, Super Time Force Ultra, Ratchet & Clank remake, Hotline Miami 2, Broforce, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin

1. Metal Gear Solid V- Because I know I'll still be talking about and thinking of this game over ten years from now.
2. Bloodborne- Fell in love with Dark Souls last year, so I'm stoked for a new IP from these guys that looks to take what I love from it while also giving it something new.
3. Zelda- I like what I'm hearing so far, enough that I'm willing to give them another chance after Skyward Sword. LBW definitely helped.
4. Xenoblade Chronicles X- The closest thing I've seen to Kotor 3 in years. Loved the Xenoblade universe and love the new additions
5. Uncharted 4- Naughty Dog's first foray with new technology is reason enough to be excited
6. Hover: Revolt of Gamers- The devs promised for Mirror's Edge meets Jet Set Radio. Let me repeat that: Mirror's Edge meets Jet Set Radio. AWESOME!!!
7. Energy Hook- Like Hover, this is two awesome ideas meeting together with Spider-Man meets Tony Hawk (created by the guy who made Tony Hawk and Spider-Man 2 also!)
8. Mirror's Edge 2- If I wasn't so worried this would be much higher. But I'm really worried about this.
9. Arkham Knight- Doubt it will wow me like Asylum did, but it looks to be a better realized version of open world than City and Origins were. Get the feeling they'll be seen as an awkward transition years from now.
10. A Hat in Time- An old school style 3D platformer that looks like Wind Waker. Sounds good to me! Hope it makes it to consoles also cause looks like something Trip would like.

I forgot about Hover and a Hat in Time. They both look rad. I know they said they were hoping to do a Wii U version for Hat in Time, so hopefully they do.

1. Zelda Wii U - Self-explanatory
2. Final Fantasy XV - glad it's finally coming out this year, looks great.
3. Final Fantasy Type-0 - I wanted the PSP version of this game. That it's going to be on PS4 is a nice bonus.
4.Bloodborne
5. Xenoblade Chronicles X
6. Mortal Kombat X
7. Tales of Zestiria
8. Resident Evil Revelations 2
9. Project S.T.E.A.M.
10. Zelda: Majora's Mask 3DS.

I know some people will disagree with me, but I'm disappointed Project S.T.E.A.M. is a SRPG. It has its niche, sure, and I'm happy they're getting a game that looks that cool. But to love the world, artstyle, and goofiness so much but get turned off by the gameplay....disappointing.

I, of course, will be one of those "disagrees". Setting aside the fact that I'm a huge SRPG fan, I feel that Project S.T.E.A.M.'s theme is perfect for a SRPG. It reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles, which was far and away my favorite 7th gen game, and is the next best thing to actually getting another entry in that series. Also seems to have a little Bioshock Infinite thrown in, and that was one game where I myself felt the theme and design were a bit wasted on what the actual game did.

Most Anticipated Games of 2015 Empty Re: Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Post by TripOpt55 Sat Jan 10, 2015 8:16 pm

Not really worked out a top ten order, but I have three up top and will just list a bunch of others:

1. Uncharted 4: Naughty Dog and Uncharted is enough to be excited, but the demo looked incredible and I like the sound of a lot of the info in GI.

2. Mirror's Edge: Loved the original. There is nothing quite like it. Hope this one turns out well.

3. Zelda Wii U: Well its Zelda, but the big overworld is something I've been craving. Hope they can make all that space worthwhile with activities and interesting locations and the like.

-Rise of the Tomb Raider: Hoping it is a little more Tomb Raider-y, but not optimistic. Still thought the reboot was a solid game in its own right, so will probably have fun either way.

-Ratchet & Clank Redux: Wish it was a new game, but Ratchet on PS4 should be cool.

-Ori and the Blind Forest: It seems to be going for a moving indie-style story, but also seems to have the gameplay to back it up.

-Yoshi's Woolly World: Wonderful art. Like LBP but more visually consistent. And I like Yoshi games generally.

-Rime: Beautiful game. Love the Ico vibes. Seems like it has some good exploration.

-Mario Maker: Looks interesting. Hope there are plenty of great sharing options.

-Quantum Break: Looks like a fun cover shooter with a decent gameplay hook. Remedy usually tells some interesting stories too.

-Splatoon: What a cool take on the third-person shooter by Nintendo.

-Tearaway Unfolded: Loved Tearaway. Seems to be a decent amount of new content here.

-Batman Arkham Knight: Don't love these games as much as others, but still always enjoy them to some extent. Should be a good time.

Will keep an eye on these too: A Hat in Time, Hover, No Man's Sky, Life is Strange, Hellblade.

Post by ajapam Sat Jan 10, 2015 9:27 pm

I'll make an actual list now so I can procrastinate a little longer

1. Zelda Wii-U: it's an awesome looking Zelda game. Basically an automatic #1 for me
2. Just Cause 3: You can launch dudes into the sky
3. Bloodborne
4. Metal Gear Solid V
5. Uncharted 4: Still just more Uncharted but the gameplay teaser looked great.
6. No Man's Sky: They're screwing up the trailers for this the same way Ubisoft did with Watchdogs but I can't argue with space exploration
7. Project Cars: Pretty straightforward racing sim it seems, but it looks like it'll have lots of good content and be something I'll play a lot with my PC gaming friends
8. Splatoon: I'm just excited to see a Nintendo third person shooter. The trailer looked really unique and fun
9. Majora's Mask 3DS: It's only so low because it's a remake. I love this game and I want to see what they do to improve it
10. Mirror's Edge 2: If they learned the right lessons from the original and use them here, this should be great. I don't have huge hopes of that happening, though

I feel like the days of me looking forward to handheld titles might be over which is kind of sad. There just isn't anything I'm stoked for.

Also forgot about Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for Wii U. That looks pretty cool. I never played the first one, but remember you liking it Greenman (I think so at least).

Yeah, I'd put Canvas Curse as my second favorite Kirby game. Kind of feel this new one may be too easy or light on content though, hopefully that's not the case.

I'd like Gravity Rush on PS4 just so I can be sure they won't go overboard with gimmicks like last time. They could still use the DS4's gyros and touchpad, but don't mind using them as much as the Vita's gimmicks.

Was that really an issue other than the sliding missions (which admittedly were awful)? They'd just need to change those and move evade to a button. Maybe I am forgetting some stuff though. I just think it'd be better if it moved to PS4 because it will sell more than 3 copies. Cross platform would be fine, but Sony can't be drunk enough to keep it a Vita exclusive I don't think. I think the combat needs an overhaul most of all.

I remember something else involving tapping on the touch screen that was annoying. I'm also OCD with keeping my screens clean and do that during cutscenes, which it would then use that input to skip them which annoyed me. And the gyro was used to aim where you wanted to go in zero gravity along with the sticks, so I would have a nice course lined up on where to fly to, then move the gyro a little and screw it up every now and then. Hated that, and while I don't think they'd put that in again on the Vita, I couldn't imagine them doing it with a regular controller.

I'd be down with Gravity Rush 2 on PS4. I played a little bit of the original on Vita, but my in-home Vita experience comes through PSTV, and sadly GR isn't on the compatibles list.

Good points there Greenman. They'd definitely be forced to do it another way on PS4 for some of them which would be good.

That's too bad they couldn't work out a way to remap some stuff for PSTV on that game San. I'd honestly be surprised if the second isn't on PS4. Maybe they will port the first one over too. Not the best game ever, but the "falling" around mechanic is super fun.
