New week, new gen. A reminder of the systems: SNES, Genesis, Turbografx-16, Gameboy, and any PC games released around this time frame, as well as any add-ons these systems had.

Top 5 Games of 4th Generation Empty Re: Top 5 Games of 4th Generation

Not including anything I first played on an emulator because a: I haven't beaten most of those and b: it's often not as much fun. It'll also all be SNES games. Not familiar with most old PC or Sega games apart from Sonic and I don't like Sonic anyway

1: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Still the best zelda world
2: Donkey Kong Country 2. Great music, graphics, level design.
3: Super Mario World. Still prefer Donkey Kong but this is one of the best platformers
4: Chrono Trigger. I never actually played this until the DS version but I'll count it. Quit for a full year after getting stuck on a boss but I got hooked once I came back
5: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time. This game was too cool back in the day.

1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Self-explanatory
2. Super Metroid. Best side-scrolling game ever and some of the best game mechanics around
3. Final Fantasy VI. A truly sublime RPG experience
4. Final Fantasy IV. Not as polished as the later games but quite an epic soundtrack.
5. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. One of the few portable games that wasn't a heavily stripped-down version of a console game.

1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past. Depending on what day you ask me, the greatest game ever made was this or World of Warcraft. Everything about this is wondrous and perfect.
2. Super Mario World
3. Street Fighter II (SNES).
4. Phantasy Star IV
5. Chrono Trigger
6. Super Metroid
7. Gunstar Heroes
8. Doom
9. Super Castlevania IV
10. TMNT IV: Turtles In Time

1. Super Mario World- One of the greatest games ever made.
2. Sonic 2- Still the best Sonic game in my mind. Like Mario World, I replay this one at least once a year.
3. Donkey Kong (GB)- First game I played that was more than action, where I had to really think to solve puzzles. Have loved games like this ever since.
4. Donkey Kong Country 2- Best game Rare ever made.
5. Chrono Trigger- The only Square game I ever really loved. So much makes this game great.

1. Super Mario World: A bit of a step back from SMB3, but still excellent. I love the overworld map and Yoshi was a cool addition.

2. Sonic 2: I was obsessed with Sonic when I was younger. Had all the games from Spinball to 3D Blast. Even stuffed animals and sneakers. Sonic 2 is the best one.

3. Yoshi's Island: Actually only played this on the GBA. Great exploration-based platformer with unique mechanics and some of the best boss fights ever.

4. Zombies Ate My Neighbors: Such a cool game. Had a blast playing this co-op with my brother.

Can't decide on a fifth. Might come back for that.

Zombies didn't make my top 5 but would have made my top 10. Hopefully Konami or Disney (it was a LucasArts game) will re-release it over Wii U VC. It was probably my favorite take on the Gauntlet genre.
