Re: Now Playing
How long is this DLC? I really liked some of the DLCs in the first two games, so I might give this a go.BretBaber wrote:New LittleBigPlanet 3 add-on story content was released yesterday, and it's a good time. Also purchased a new Cloud Strife sack boy to play with. I love these games more than I give them time for.
Re: Now Playing
3 levels and 3 multiplayer challenges. It's basically a level with each of the new characters. It's fun.

Picked Ori and the Blind Forest back up. Hit that usual indie game wall where the gameplay is expanding, but the design is not keeping up with it. Platforming is about 50/50 fun and frustrating right now, especially since so many hazards are hard to see. Having enough fun that I'll see it to the end, but wish it kept that momentum the opening gave it.

Re: Now Playing
Haven't been playing much. Just a bit of The Witcher here and there. Didn't know what to rent next so going to give Killzone 3's campaign a quick playthrough. I never got around to that one.
Really thinking about going for the Xbox One soon and playing some of the games I missed this summer before new releases I care about start coming around again.

Dell actually has a deal to get you a $100 gift card with the Halo bundle. Can get Sunset Overdrive with that

Re: Now Playing
Thanks. I will look into that. I hadn't really yet peeked at what offers are out there yet.
Re: Now Playing
I enjoyed KZ3's campaign, and I really loved the multiplayer too. I can see why some prefer 2's multiplayer, but I really liked 3 a lot. I think the improved aiming made it more fun for me, and I was awesome at it. Probably the best game I was at multiplayer. Maybe that would make a good top 5, games you felt you were better at multiplayer than others.

Re: Now Playing
Been pretty heavy on Dragon Age: Inquisition recently and up until last weekend. For some reason I had a big hunger for a recent GTA game and I forgot that I had bought GTA4 (PS3) from PSN in the past. Downloaded it earlier this week and have been playing it regularly every night this week. So far, it's pretty solid.
Also, I started up Styx: Master of Shadows, one of the recent PS Plus games for the PS4. It's very much a stealth game but I like the fantasy setting.

Got my PS4 along with MGSV: Ground Zeroes and Batman, going to boot them both up tomorrow (having a BBQ with friends tonight...stupid friends).

Hopefully you got PS+ because Rocket League is amazing, and it's free right now with PS+.

We should do a Rocket League game night. I have it on PC but I just learned that it has cross-platform MP

I let my PS+ lapse. Maybe I will start it up again to join in on the fun. What is it, like soccer with cars?
Re: Now Playing
I'd be so down for this. I'm pretty addicted to Rocket League right now. And yes Trip. It's soccer with cars. The car controls are really sharp and responsive so its just a blast.

Re: Now Playing
I'm working through the Killzone 3 campaign. It is pretty bog standard stuff from a design standpoint. The first few chapters were particularly forgettable, but they at least added some fun stuff like a jetpack and the wasp in recent sections to mix it up. The M82 remains a pretty awesome standard assault rifle though.
Re: Now Playing
Replaying Mass Effect, this time on PC. Has a different hacking mini game and a few bugs, but still the same game I know and love. Foot controls feel better, but controlling the Mako is a lot worse

The M82 is my favorite gun ever in games. I love that gun.
Shadow Fall for some reason decided to not include this. They corrected their error by adding it later, but even then the gun didn't have the same feel.

Re: Now Playing
I finished Killzone 3's campaign. Just a really up and down affair. Some really fun parts, some really poor parts. Ending with an on-rails shooting section is just baffling. You have top-notch gunplay and weapons. Why the hell wouldn't you end using those gameplay elements to finish your game is impossible to understand. The story finish is really dumb too, but so is most of the game's story.
Love, love, love the weapons though. As I said before, the M82 rocks, but just about all of the heavy weapons are awesome too. The Wasp, the Boltgun and the thing that makes enemies explode are all so good. The shooting here is so excellent. It is too bad they haven't been able to really nail down a well-designed campaign (I think 2's is quite good though). Same with the story. The characters and dialogue are generally a miss, but the lore, a lot of which is sort of absent from the game, is rather cool.
I realize this is a multiplayer first series, but with gunplay this good, I just see the potential for a better campaign than they have delivered (I never played 1 though, but have played the rest).

Re: Now Playing
I never played Killzone 3 but the original beat 2 in the campaign department as far as I'm concerned. It was far from perfect but did some cool things like the multiple protagonists which opened up different paths. Had an awesome weapon set, too.
I feel kind of bad for never playing Killzone 3 or Resistance 3. The latter especially. Those are two games I never would've missed if you could still rent games...

I still think of 2 as what not to do with an FPS campaign. Though I'd probably hate it a lot less if it didn't have Six axis valve turning

Re: Now Playing
I started up Life is Strange Episode 4. Pretty cool so far. I'm also renting Call of Duty 4 (hasn't come in yet though) since Greenman mentioned it in the essential FPS campaign thread. I've never played any of the CoD campaigns outside a demo, so this should be interesting.
Re: Now Playing
I finally bought Mario Kart 8. I'm always impressed by how Wii-U games look. I've only played this on my friend's projector before. Seeing it in high definition is even better, and it's easily the best Mario Kart I've played

CoD 4 definitely doesn't have the same impact as it did in 2007, but as someone who was late to the party too, I really enjoyed it.

Been working on...a lot. Life is Strange Episode 3, Stein's Gate, Arkham Knight and MGSV's extra missions when I'm in the mood.

Re: Now Playing
Forgot to mention this week, but I upgraded to a New 3DS when they had that promotion for $100 when you trade in your old one. What was really cool is someone traded in MM3D still sealed which they bought at launch and never got around to I offered them $25 for it, so I've been playing that and MGS3D on it. Nub works alright, but I like the build of this thing a lot more than the old 3DS. Still not at Vita level advanced, but a lot better than how cheap that felt.
Also got a review code for Tembo: The Badass Elephant. Gonna start that up right now. It's a 2D platformer made by Game Freak, so I'm excited to see one of my favorite devs go really out of their comfort zone. Especially since it's proven fact that everything is better with elephants.
