Re: Now Playing
I played a bit more MGS3 (I'm just a bit past The Pain boss fight). Not sure I find the controls to be all that much better, but the new camera is a nice and I like that you can flip to the old one in case you want that style at times. I'm not too keen on games that have you jumping between third and first person like this one seems to. Still I'm having fun now that I'm used to the quirks again.
Re: Now Playing
The controls are basically the same, it's just the new camera that's different. And the pressure sensitive cqc I think

Bought the Ratchet games for the Vita and I've been playing those a lot. Playing the first one and The HD transfer seems pretty good.

THe PS4 controller works automatically with the PC? Or did I read that wrong?

Yeah, Grim Fandango doesn't need any extra hardware installed for the PS4 controller to work. Trust me, I gave up trying to get mine to work on my PC a long time ago.

So it works with certain games but not...all games? That is bizarre.

Re: Now Playing
Yeah, it is bizarre. I think they have to program specific controllers to work on PC though and most just go with the 360 one. Would like to see DS4 support become standard though, I love that controller.

I don't even have a PS4 and I like that controller. I use my DS3 on my PC now.

Re: Now Playing
I started up Dying Light. Seems like a cool idea, but I have not gotten the hang of it yet. Only got to play a bit last night though.
Re: Now Playing
Been playing a lot of Dark Souls. At the stretch where I can face the final bosses (and warp between bonfires, thank god). Just grinding for better equipment and when these common enemies dishing out 3000 souls apiece stop making leveling quick.

Re: Now Playing
I started up The Banner Saga it's a really beautiful game the cutscenes stutter though and I don't know why the tutorial was pretty bad it just throws a bunch of info at you and you feel like you have no idea what you're actually doing what really pissed me off though is that afterward a guy just started talking like this I couldn't even follow what he was saying he just ran through his dialog without taking a single breath I could hardly tell where one sentence ended and the next began forget this game I'll just get into Fire Emblem again

Re: Now Playing
Finally got to try that DK Gameboy game. Pretty cool. It starts out like the old arcade game and then opens up to a bunch more levels. Only played the first four after the switch, but it seems really neat so far. New mechanics and enemies. Thanks again Greenman!
Re: Now Playing
Finished up the second episode of the Game of Thrones game. Pretty solid for what it is. I liked the new locations it went to this time.
Re: Now Playing
I finished up Life is Strange Episode 1. While it lacks the gamey-ness that I like in games, it really delivers in most other areas. The soundtrack is awesome and right in my wheelhouse. I have loved Syd Matters for years. Not only does the soundtrack have two of their tracks, but one of the members composed the score. Plus some more stuff I listen to like Angus and Julia Stone and then Bright Eyes I guess is in a future episode (or maybe I missed the track in here). I love the high school setting too and the rewind mechanic is really cool. Wish they had done more with that and used it for some puzzles more. It was what attracted me to the game since it sounded similar to the one these devs had in Remember Me. I dig the story too even if a lot of the dialog is eyeroll-inducing. Got a cool mystery vibe to it. Good artstyle. Will definitely play the rest when they come out.
Re: Now Playing
Despite my computer's terrible performance and some niggling issues I still have been playing pretty much nothing but Dragon Age: Inquisition for the last month (very much on and off, as you can imagine). I need to just beat this game so I can reclaim my life back @_@

I'm the same way with Dark Souls right now Kubert. Just have three bosses left though and I'm done with the game. I'm getting excited, feel like I actually accomplished something getting through it.

Re: Now Playing
I bet. That game was tough. I never did get Dark Souls running in a way I liked in on my PC. Just didn't fiddle with the mods enough I think.

Re: Now Playing
I didn't realize they released another tomb for Temple of Osiris this week. My friend happened to come over tonight, so I downloaded it just in time! Honestly wasn't too impressed with either of the DLC tombs, but this one was better than the ice one.
Re: Now Playing
Since Best Buy had it on sale, I bought a copy of COD:AW for the PS4. Finished the campaign just now. I like the suits, weapons and gadgets and it looks and sounds great. The only thing I'm a little apprehensive about is jumping into the multiplayer, which in the past I've only been adequate, sometimes less so. Maybe the new mechanics will change that.

If you were only adequate before, I think you'll be worse off. It makes trying to kill people harder since they're more allusive now.

Re: Now Playing
Started up Super Stardust Ultra. Really fun. Taking a little time to get used to it again. It is no Resogun, but I still enjoy it a lot. I either forgot about or never played some of the special modes. Really dig Endless and Impact. All the different modes are good because it can fill a few minutes to an hour plus depending on the mode.
Also replaying Super Mario World because I wanted something to use with Off-TV Play.

Re: Now Playing
Finally beat Dark Souls. Not a perfect game and could get really frustrating, but man was it fantastic. One of my top games of last gen for sure. Love the exploration in it the most, there was something so magical about discovering a new area. Bosses were great too though, with a few exceptions.

Re: Now Playing
Beat the second episode of the Game of Thrones Telltale game... This is probably the least gamey out of all the telltale games I've played. The actual gameplay is just push forward. There's hardly any player choice or inventory management that's worth while. I am still enjoying it though, because its a fun story in that universe. It's nice to have it while the show isn't on TV too. Looking forward to playing more as they come out!

Re: Now Playing
Game of Thrones is also a pretty ugly game too. If I wasn't a sucker for that world, I don't know that I'd have much good to say about the game to be honest.
Checked out the Resogun free update. So much cool stuff added. Housemarque is just awesome.

Surprisingly, I'm actually having a blast with COD: AW. I'll have good and bad matches but the exo-abilities really put a new spin on the gameplay and I find myself really drawn to it. I'm level 17 right (Sgt., I think?) and I'm trying to get more kills with certain weapons so I can unlock attachments for them. It does the "carrot on a stick" think extremely well. I was worried at first but I think this was a good investment.

Re: Now Playing
Picked up the New 3DS with Majora's Mask today. It's a nice looking system. The right nub isn't particularly great or terrible but I don't expect Nintendo to do anything too demanding with it. Face-tracking 3D is neat, but works better in the menu than in games. I still get a fair chunk of those annoying ghost outlines when using 3D in-game except now I have no explanation beyond it simply not working or my eyes being terrible (which they aren't really and wearing my glasses doesn't fix the problem.) But it's improved enough to make me consider leaving 3D on.
Majora's Mask looks nice and the changes to saving are probably good for a handheld version. Not a fan of any of the other changes so far. South Clock town just feels dead now and it seems really handhold-y

Re: Now Playing
I really never use 3D. Usually with a new game, I will check to see what it looks like and then turn it off for the rest of the game.
Re: Now Playing
I never used it much either. It works much better now but it does hurt the eyes after a while still. I have a friend who swears by it yet he used gyro controls in Resident Evil. Don't ask me how that works
Liking Majora's Mask more as I go on so that's good

Re: Now Playing
I had heard the changes they made to Majora's Mask were more heavy handed than Ocarina of Time's remake. I never played the original though, should I still grab it before Nintendo stops making it?
