Top 5: Games You Like That You'd Normally Hate
So I was thinking over certain genres/types of games I normally hate or don't really get into that I really like in spite of it and I thought "Topic idea!" So there you have it, list out 5 games that on paper wouldn't be your thing but you find yourself loving it anyway.
If this DOES end up being a repeat topic, sorry.
1. Elite Beat Agents - I normally do not get into Rhythm games but I was SO addicted to this one. I even played through the harder versions of the songs in the second playthrough. It's a super addictive game, with funny humor and, in my opinion, the best use of the DS' touchscreen controls to date.
2. Valkyria Chronicles - Despite the "drama" that this game produced and the fact that despite the fact that I tell myself I love Strategy RPGs, I rarely finish them. So to my surprise I found the gameplay of Valkyria Chronicles addicting and well designed and I wanted more...then they made the sequel for the PSP. THANKS SEGA. ...Assholes.
3. Catherine - As I've said, some anime has a very special place in my heart, I'm not against the genre. But let's face it: most of the time when animes take stabs at drama, especially serious topics like relationships and infidelity they fail. Catherine however was surprisingly adult, and not in that "BOOBIES AND GUUUUNS" way that most games are "adult" but in a way that if a 15 year old kid played that game they would not get the same experience on it. This and the fact that the gameplay is mostly built on a block climbing puzzle which I was skeptical about at first but addicted to at the end, overall it surprised me.
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Despite the dudebro rep it gets now (some of it undeservedly) the first Modern Warfare game was great. I'm not a big multiplayer guy but I played the multiplayer on this game for hours and hours.
5. Day of the Tentacle II - I normally don't like point and click adventure much. I'll watch someone do it all day but the act of sitting down and playing it is tedious. But I LOVED this game as a kid, remembered playing it and replaying it.

Let's see... uh, NBA Jam 1994? That's the only game that comes to mind for me. I hate sports games otherwise.
