Hyrule Warriors Thread
I kind of wanted to make a thread for this game because talking about things like what characters you want how they would play. Speculating on what's gonna be in it would be pretty cool. If this belongs in the Zelda thread please feel free to plant it there
Here's the Character trailers
There's at least 4 more characters, and with Agitha being announced it pretty much seems anything goes. What does everyone here think they should be.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
This game alone is genuinely tempting me to buy a Wii U just for it, which is terrible because I know it's just Dynasty Warriors reskinned so not really worth buying a whole console for.
Can someone please explain who the blue haired chick is? I don't recognize her at all, she just looks like a generic animu chick.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Lana is a new character created by the team making this game. She's kind of like the good to the anatagonist witch lady's evil
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Lana's design feels really alien in among the rest of the cast. I don't really care for it. She does seem to have a pretty wild moveset though, so that is cool. Loving the look of Zelda.
I have only played a bit of Dynasty Warriors in my day, so not sure how it works. Is there a campaign of sorts that you can go through with each character? How long do they last.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Dynasty Warriors does separate campaigns for the 4 kingdoms, Samurai Warriors does separate campaigns for each character. The roster size in HW is closer to SW so if they go with that i'd imagine it would be character campaigns. Which are about 4-5 stages 10-30 minutes each. Kingdom Campaigns are about 10-13 stages with branching paths after around the 9th or 10th
However I can kind of see this story working more like Warriors Orochi too. The campaign in that is set up where you start with about 3 characters and unlock more as you beat the stages. You pick which character(s) you play as in each. While i doubt Hyrule Warriors will be as big as WO3 the campaign in that did take me over 80 hours to 100%
There is also another main mode besides the story they've yet to announce which I'm hoping is like DW7's conquest mode. It basically had a couple hundred stages all with different conditions some short some long, but it was amazing. The closest thing i can compare it to is Soul Calibur 2's weapon master mode.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I think Trip summed up Lana really well, her moveset does look absolutely awesome. The one character I really want to be playable is Skull Kid. Like, Ganondorf is probably going to end up as a playable character so there's tiny fraction of hope for SK too, right? Right?
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
It has the Great Fairy from OoT/MM, and the moon from MM. I cannot honestly see these being the only references to those games so.
I'd like a Romani/Cremia tag team where they summon horses and cows n shit.
It's been pretty Twilight Princess heavy so far. i would imagine they'd go with some other games with most of the remaining characters

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Thanks for the info Kay. Sounds good.
As for other characters, I am not sure. I'm not particularly creative either. A goron might be cool and for a totally out there suggest perhaps Vaati from The Minish Cap. Assuming these don't have to make much sense.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Not making sense is kind of Musou's MO. I'd love to see more out of place characters like Agitha.
The fisher girl from Twilight Princess would be cool, or any of the pirates from Wind Waker. I think you could do a lot with MM's characters too since theres so many side quests involving the people of Clock Town. We need at least one non-human character though. Like a Goron, or Zora.

Fi announced as a playable character along with the ball and chain from TP as one of Link's weapons.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
i think in terms of gameplay Fi was a good choice at least. She's her own weapon and can transform into a sword. Should be cool to see in action. Not really sure about her character though i still refuse to play SS and i know a lot of people dislike her.
On that note now that we have TP. and SS's support characters. It would be kind of neat if we got The King of Red Lions (fighting with a boat isnt really reaching that far in a musou game. Huang Gwai's weapon in DW7E and 8 is a fucking boat) Not sure how they'd make Navi or Tatl work though.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Fi was used awfully in SS but I'm happy to see her in a game like this. I like her design and I think she had a couple of good moments in SS when she wasn't telling you there was a 99% chance the thing you wanted was at the end of the linear corridor.
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I haven't been paying much attention to this since I've never played a Dynasty Warriors but it sure is looking nice. I think I'm becoming a bit more curious. And more Midna is always good. Fi actually looked pretty cool too.

I've only played a Dynasty Warriors game one time, but I bought Link's Crossbow Training... so that means I will buy anything if it says Zelda on the box.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Haha, Skyward Sword was so weird for me. I was legitimately excited for it. I was absolutely loving it for the first 5-8 hours and then I got so sick of all the motion controls. I really need to go back and finish it. But at this point, I'd have to replay the whole thing, because I have no idea where I left off.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
That is my same exact experience with Skyward Sword. I was so hyped and it was pretty fun.. but I just stopped playing it. Still bothers me that I never completed it.
I also bought Link's Crossbow Training and probably played it twice.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I was excited seeing previews, but the more i heard about motion controls and stuff the less interested i became. I'm fine with motion controls but in Zelda they should just limit them to TP's waggling. Making so much gameplay revolve around it just ugh. Put it in a new IP.
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I still think Skyward Sword had some amazing dungeon designs and bosses. I wish the motion controls didn't permeate like every single aspect of the game and the sword fighting had been tuned better, but I still think the game had its merits. Those stones that affected time were particularly rad. And Koloktos.
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I will give SS this: up until the first three dungeons, it was pretty good and the fourth wasn't half bad either. But the latter half of that game is just so awful creative final dungeon aside.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
I sometimes want to try SS, but i keep thinking how much i wont be able to stand all the motion controls. I think if i can get it for 20 bucks but i remember its a nintendo game and i also dont have a motion plus
Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
It'd help if the motion controls didn't feel like a challenge in themselves sometimes *COUGH*BOMBROLLING*COUGH*. The thing that really got me though was just how much they recycle by the end of the game, seriously it was awful. The weird thing that gets me is some of the designs in that game are great yet others/almost all of the villains, are absolutely abysmal.
Skyward Sword Zelda for the best Zelda.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Thread
Here's a trailer for the first Wind Waker reference so far.
It's in the form of the Wind Waker itself as a weapon for Zelda.
