Was surprisingly popular at 1up so I'm bringing it back. Let's motivate each other and shit...
I'm going kickboxing tonight...been a bit lazy these last few *cough* months *coughcough* but I'm back on the bandwagon! Fuck yeah!

Re: Workout Thread
Sweet. Good luck with the kickboxing.
Here are my current workouts:
Day 1
Barbell Bench Press
Squat
Weighted Dips
Barbell Curls
Smith Machine Calf Raises
Day 2
Hang Cleans
Overhead Press
Wide-Grip Pull Ups
Bent Over Rows
Stiff-Leg Deadlifts
Lying Skull Crushers (EZ Grip Bar)
Day 3
Deadlift
Incline Barbell Press
DB Shrugs
Seated DB Press
Walking Lunges (DBs)
Standing Concentration Curls
Things have been going pretty well as far as strength gains go. I'm repping at 315 on Squat again (sets of 5 usually). Honestly I feel I could do more than I'm doing based on leg strength, but my back is holding me... back. Probably need to start using a belt. Deadlift I got 365, but that seemed to maybe be my limit for now. My Overhead Press sucks... haha. Let's not talk about it.

Re: Workout Thread
I've been lifting lots of rock at work and spent a bunch of time the other week stacking hay bales. So I'm going to try and take that momentum and ride my bike. Any second now... I'm going to get off the internet... and ride my bike... just wait

Re: Workout Thread
Oh man...end of that class was brutal. Teacher had playing cards which had hte numbers 1-3 which would determine your workout. And then he'd draw again to determine number of times. So if it was 1: you'd have to do kicks on one side, 2 was kicks on the other (right after reach other of course), if it was 3 you had to do burpies and hten kicks on both sides. I got 3...and it hurt.

Right, another day, another kickboxing session. Hour and a half this time. trying so hard not to die. Bit worried though because I've not been hydrating too well today...so gonna try not to die.

Re: Workout Thread
I started the cut phase of my workouts for the year (much later than I intended). This means lots of cardio and inevitably losing some strength AKA my workout hell.
I moved away from the above lifting schedule in favor of one with a bunch of super-setting pairs of lifts with a higher rep scheme for the cut phase. Which is neat for a change, but I'll have to see how it feels over time.

Re: Workout Thread
Cardio is great though. You ever (and I don't mean this in a confronational way but internet you can't read tones and I'm scared you might rip me in half because you're super strong) *ahem* you ever do any non-weight workouts Trip? Just curious.

Re: Workout Thread
Oh yeah I do. Typically half the year I do some cardio. Like enough so I'm in good cardio vascular shape or whatever, but not so much I'm at a caloric deficit. I'm trying to gain weight in this phase (or more so strength in my case lately).
The other half I kick the cardio into high gear. I'm doing cardio on lifting days (3 times a week) and other days by itself (usually just a couple... I take it easy on weekends unless I missed a workout during the week). That isn't much different than the other half, but I'm doing more of it. Which is why I said "lots of cardio" now.
You say cardio is great. I mean sure. It's great for you. I generally find it really boring. You do kickboxing classes which sounds fun. I'd rather be playing basketball or something like that than typical cardio work. A lot of times I'll go outside and do old football agility and conditioning drills instead since its less boring to me. Regardless it ends up being worth the trouble, but I generally don't enjoy it much.

Re: Workout Thread
Yeah, I liked bike riding back home because it was really zen, but yeah, it is boring. I'm all about fun workouts (kickboxing, rock climbing etc). It's like you get tricked into doing cardio without doing a cardio "workout", you know?

Re: Workout Thread
Do you actually rock climb? That is cool. I am afraid of heights, so I'd be a mess. I've done a few of those walls and they were fun. Rock climbing isn't any good for cardio though I wouldn't think.
Re: Workout Thread
Naw, just talking workouts in general, not just cardio I suppose.
And if you like the walls you should try Bouldering. Great workout.

Re: Workout Thread
Wow... just watched some bouldering videos. Looks really awesome. Is there an example of one like you've done online somewhere? Impress me.
Re: Workout Thread
I've never been recorded, sorry (and even if I have I wont be impressing anyone >_>). My gym was The Spot in boulder though, you should check out their website.

Re: Workout Thread
Oh I more just meant a picture of a bouldering wall similar to one you might have climbed. I looked that gym up. Pretty awesome. I'll just assume you climbed the hardest looking wall with ease!
Re: Workout Thread
I climbed all of them! They have different routes around all the walls so you just move around. So yes...with EASE, I don't know. Funnily enough, that wall on the side, the shortest looking one has a lot of the hardest routes. Take the most finesse.
It's a great amount of fun, I really recommend trying it if you have a gym near you.

Re: Workout Thread
Honestly it probably seems a little harder to me since I was watching the competition videos and they don't have nearly as many handholds I guess, but I'm still impressed. I may actually look into this.
Re: Workout Thread
You ever find a Bouldering place, Trip? Would be curious to see what you thought.
Hopefully, if my air conditioner gets installed fast enough I'm gonna go to kickboxing for the first time since I left for my trip. Gonna be brutal probably. Guy has to finish within the next 30 minutes though so I'm not sure if it will happen. Will workout regardless though, really starting to feel it. I mean, I haven't been inactive, been walking around loads but certainly haven't been pushing myself in the last 3 weeks or so.
EDIT: Unfortunately he's still working. Oh well. Will just have to try and rock a workout here. Will do it for the same amount of time, wont be as good but better than nothing, eh?

Re: Workout Thread
There is one maybe 40 minutes from me. I just have to take the opportunity to go up there... not sure when that will be.
Re: Workout Thread
I'm on summer break so my workout routine(s) are all jacked up. I actually just got back from the gym not too long ago. Started my routine around midnight and ended around 2-230am. I need to fix my schedule up, otherwise I'm screwed when classes start back up...
Bouldering is awesome! My sister is a member at a bouldering gym up in Seattle and she buffed up after several months being out there. My friends and I are thinking about taking some beginner Parkour classes in our area. I'm a little hesitant though, as I'd like not to break any more bones in my body... But what's life without a few risks, eh?

Re: Workout Thread
Parkour classes if they're good will build you up slowly so I wouldn't worry about it. Parkour training was a lot more about precision and balance than the flip stuff, that stuff comes later =p
Long story short, I HIGHLY recommend you go for it.

Re: Workout Thread
My friends and I haven't started yet, otherwise I'd tell you. We just know that drop-ins are $15 a session, and a monthly membership is about $150-200. We figure we'd rather try it out first, and since we live about 30-45 minutes away, I doubt we'll be there any more than three times a week.
Re: Workout Thread
When it was available I was going 2-3 times a week with climbing making up my other 2-3. And it was awesome becuase I was just having fun and as a result getting a six pack. Good times.

Re: Workout Thread
ya that sounds like my kind of working out. I could probably get into weights if I had a partner that I worked with really well, but parkour just sounds right.

Re: Workout Thread
My cutting phase has gone well. I have been dieting as well as doing cardio along with the more typical lifting.
Re: Workout Thread
I've typically gone to the gym to run on the treadmill and do an extensive amount of upper body weightlifting, but recently started legs and I'm actually enjoying it. Granted, I did a full body workout yesterday and I'm sitting on the couch incredibly sore at the moment, but I need to eventually think of a way of changing/adding new things to my leg workout days.
Re: Workout Thread
What exercises do you do for legs at the gym lenny? Maybe I can suggest some other exercises to try.
Re: Workout Thread
For the most part, I do a 1 mile warm up at an 8 mph pace, and a 1 mile cool-down at 7.5. Then I just do some Barbell squats and lunges for legs. Hahah. To be honest, I don't need to work on my legs because they're naturally pretty beefy, but I know it can only help make me a faster runner. My Marines used to say that I had Chun Li legs, or tree trunks for legs, but I never really work them as much as I should. Or as much as others do.
Re: Workout Thread
GENTLEMEN! I go off the kickboxing. I know not whether I shall return, but know that I hold you all the in the highest esteem.
Sincerely Yours,
Lord Von Krubixcube.
