Just whizzing around in these games is wonderful.

That's my problem with the city of inFamous 1 and 2, they rehash a lot of areas. It happens in this game, but not nearly as often as it did in the first and second game.

I think it's much worse here than in 2. 2 I always knew where I was because each major section had it's own unique look and feel. Here everything mostly blends together.

I'm with Greenman. 2's city has Second Son's beat easily. Infamous 1's is definitely the most boring though.
Re: inFamous Series Discussion
I really like 2's city, but I've come across less of the copy and paste in this game. What sucks about this game is there is only 2 islands. The opening of the game had a really nice woodsy setting, should have explored more on that. Also, this is Seattle, where the fuck is all the rain?

Seatle's definitely more diverse compared to a standard sandbox game like 1 or Saints Row 3/4, but there's nothing as different as 2's flooded areas, swamps, or industrial district. I honestly think you're just loving that it's Seattle Bret, which is fine to like it more, but doesn't change how 2 went way further making itself more diverse.

Re: inFamous Series Discussion
I do get that it was more diverse, I just don't think I"m explaining myself well. There will be back alleys in all inFamous games that have the same structures and pipes as sections in other parts of the game. It was the worst in the first game, but still a little worse from what I can tell in the second game as opposed to the third. Overall the second game was more robust in varied locations and having a city that felt different in different sections, I'm talking about the buildings being used over and over again. As if someone was playing Sim City and kept reusing the same buildings.
This game has it as well though, because I see a lot of the same bars, coffee shops, comic stores, and some back alleys used all throughout the city.
They missed some potential in Seattle exploring the landscape like they did with New Marais (that's what it was called in the second game, right?) and the swamps. Some wooded sections other than the opening would have been nice.

Yeah, I was really excited when I saw a mountain area shown off in the trailers, then disappointed when I found out that was only the opening areas before you get to the sandbox.

Re: inFamous Series Discussion
I don't think 2 is as bad as you are making it out to be in that regard Bret because of the greater variety in locations though. They couldn't reuse the same architecture from downtown over again in the ghetto areas or the swamps. I'm not saying it isn't an issue, but I don't think it is that much worse than SS.
I also think comparing the aspect you are comparing isn't apples to apples because climbing buildings with Cole was much different than with Delsin. They had to put more work into how you could climb the sides of buildings in 2. So reusing some of that would make sense. They could do whatever in SS because you just climbing up buildings is an afterthought in this game because of the way traversal works.
I was excited when I saw the trailer and they showed wilderness sections though like you mentioned it was really only for the opening section. (Edit: Didn't see Greenman's post before I wrote that!) Not sure how you'd get to charge some of your powers out there in woods, but it could have been interesting I think.

Re: inFamous Series Discussion
I remember a house in 2 that looked like a drug house that was used quite a bit. #2 is a blur because I got the platinum so fast so I'm probably wrong. It just seems like I encounter it less in this game.
For smoke powers they could just have some burning wood, but getting those other two powers would be pretty hard unless there's a family camping and Delsin goes up and steals video from a portable DVD player/phone/Vita/3DS/tablet/etc...

I would say the same Spiddy, but this is their third try and while they've made improvements in some areas, part of me just worries there will be another compromise if they continue with Infamous.

I actually started my evil run about a week ago. Not sure if I'll buy the DLC right away when it comes out, but I wanted a refresher and to platinum the game before it does come out.

Re: inFamous Series Discussion
Unlike with Watch Dogs, I am hoping Sucker Punch moves onto something new and leaves Infamous behind. Like Greenman said they have had three shots and to me it always feels like two steps forward and two steps back. I'm not sure they will ever take this franchise where it needs to go to be top-tier stuff, so I'd rather see them take a stab at something altogether new.
I am looking forward to First Light still, but if given the choice I'd rather their next full game will be a new IP.

Re: inFamous Series Discussion
I'd rather see them move onto something new as well, but wouldn't hate seeing another inFamous because I do find them very enjoyable. If they make a new one, I'd like to see them leave the states and go to another country for a setting. I'd rather see inFamous make the move to Vita, seems like it would be a fun game to play on the go.
