Re: Happy Birthday thread
Thanks again for the birthday wishes!
My birthday presents this year were The Wonderful 101 and, for those of you who aren't on Pixlbit or haven't been there lately, my wife bought me The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy, which is a three-book, 576 total page collection of Yoshitaka Amano artwork for Final Fantasy I through X.

I literally just saw that book at Barnes and Nobles today, but didn't look at it because it was behind the counter. How much does that bad boy cost?

Re: Happy Birthday thread
At B&N it costs $90, but Amazon had it on sale for $56 recently. Book I is Final Fantasy I-3, Book 2 is Final Fantasy 4-6, Book 3 is Final Fantasy 7-10.

Book 3 would without a doubt be my favorite book.

FFIX had some especially awesome art in book 3. I also love all the FFVI artwork. It's a great set of books, glad you got it San

Re: Happy Birthday thread
@bretbaber: All three of the books had interesting aspects about them. Book I had the original artwork for the most familiar monsters in Final Fantasy, since these were the first games in the series, and it was interesting to see how close the in-game sprites and models were to the original concept art. Book II was the thickest, since it was with the SNES games that Amano was most heavily involved and you can clearly see the stuff in the book in those games. Book III was interesting because those games, other than FFIX, are more associated with the more traditional anime/realistic art of Tetsuya Nomura, and it gives you a new perspective on favorites like Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, Squall, Tidus, or Yuna.
@chocobot: I wish I'd known about the 2012 collection, which also had a book called "About Amano" and a print signed by him. Would have gone great with my Nobuo Uematsu-signed copy of FFIX as a FF collectible. Still, this set is pretty nice.
@spiddy: Right backatcha, bud. My wife is pretty awesome. She's as big of a gaming geek as I am, just in different types of games. A different woman might have wanted me to sell my collection or might at least have tolerated it with grudging indulgence.

Re: Happy Birthday thread
Thanks guys! Been spending the day being a big dork and playing a bunch of new games (as you can probably see from my backloggery...). The more boozy, traditional celebrations are coming this weekend.
You guys are all pretty good guys (except for spiddy, that guy's a dick), so here's to another year of internet-yelling at each other and hopefully real-yelling at each other.
Also I"ll probably have lots of annoying questions about games/3DS stuff in the coming weeks so I apologize in advance. Thanks again.

Oh so the good Cap'n shows up all of the sudden right before his Birthday. This is almost as suspicious as when someone conveniently made this thread right before their Bday.

Everyone uses this thread to their own advantage. All I did was provide the means.
