Beat God of War: Ascension. Great game. I remember people complaining about the difficulty, but it didn't seem any different than previous games. Controls were a bit of a change, but nothing too drastic.

I also enjoyed God of War: Ascension, Bret. It's nothing mind blowing, but no one ever said it has to be. It's a fun God of War game where Kratos murders a lot of dudes. I thought it was kind of a cool story too and I liked how it jumped back and forth through time... I liked all the elemental buffs you could put on your blades. It was a nice change of pace. I still gotta go back and beat it again to get the plat. I think I'm only missing a couple of trophies.

I want Dragon's Crown, but seeing as I just got Pikmin 3 with Saints Row 4 on the way I don't see myself picking it up anytime soon. Hopefully I can pick it up cheap later on, looks like a lot of fun.
Spent all yesterday playing Pikmin 3 speaking of it. I really liked 2, but it didn't suck me in half as much as 3 is. Best Wii U game I've played without a doubt.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I want it, but I have a Tales of Xillia collectors' edition coming tomorrow which is my priority. And I won't even be able to play that until Thursday because I'm going on another out-of-town work assignment. However, I think the physical version is going to become rare, so I think I'd better jump on it if I ever want to get it. I will be getting it on PS3. If anyone else jumps on it, I'd love to get a Play Station group game together on PSN.

I really want it but likewise Xillia tommorow probably means i wont be touching anything else (except maybe Mass Effect 2) Until Saints Row 4 hits, and then I'll have SR4. I really want it but I can't really justify getting it right away.

Btw I will probably get it on Vita cause reasons....>_>

I've always thought the stories in God of War games were great. Not that there's plenty of story, but what is there is interesting and keeps you moving forward. God of War is a series I thought I never would have liked. After hearing so much good stuff about early during PS3 I decided to finally try it. So glad I did. Great games.

I just beat The Swapper. It's the first time in years where I've played a puzzle-platformer that I've really enjoyed. Everything since Limbo has sort of felt like a cash-in to me.

Apart from the Elf, I reeeeeeeally don't like the main character designs for Dragon's Crown. Everyone just looks so revolting. Thankfully the gameplay doesn't interest me that much either, but whatever.

I rather like the designs in Dragon's Crown myself. I can see where some might be put off by them, but I always appreciate a unique style.

I liked screenshots of this one city in Xillia that looked futuristic. It kind of reminded me of Midgar in FFVII. I also really dig the character designs. The CE comes with a figure of Milla Maxwell.

I'm not a fan of the Barbarian or anything with huge muscles in it either, but I'm fine with the Elf and the rest of them. Aja, Stealth Inc is another great puzzle platformer. Actually may be the best I played since Donkey Kong 94.

That's actually what I was thinking, although I'm quite impressed with what I've seen of Tales of Xillia. It's hard to top a class act like Ni no Kuni. That said, I think Xillia could give it a run for its money, or at least settle in as a very respectable silver medal game.

I've never played a Tales game. ARe they like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest in that they have nothing to do with previous games?

Yes except Symphonia and Xillia got direct sequels. They actually have quite a few similarities to FF except with action based combat instead ATB stuff. I'd recommend the series to you based on what you play for RPGs I'm pretty sure you'd like the series as long as you dont mind a more action-oriented combat system. It's a lot like FF and they haven't done anything weird or drastic with it's systems this gen like FF XIII did.

It's not weird like Persona is it? I tried out Persona based off of everyone bragging it up, and I didn't much care for it. The story was good, but the combat was totally meh in my opinion. So if I ever play this Xillia game, which one should I play first?

Standard Tales combat controls kind of like a beat-em up. Theres a basic attack button and a magic/skill button. It's encounter-based though.

I'd recommend starting with Abyss. (PS2/3DS) or waiting on the HD collection for Symphonia next year. I'd say Vesperia too thats only on 360 unless you get the Japanese version. They are a bit more traditional in their combat systems. Graces and Xillia are a bit more complex. Also Abyss, Symphonia and Vesperia have world maps and i know you love those.

Love world maps. Was thinking about those today actually while playing XIII-2. Is the Xillia game before this new one available for the PS3? This new game has a look that interest me, and the IGN review did a good job of interesting me more.

Does Graces have anything to do with Xillia? Other than being a Tales game?

If the price is right, I just may purchase this Xillia people speak of.  My faith in the game has been placed there by you kayshire.  This burden is yours and yours alone.

So I'm 12 hours into Xillia, and it probably will be my favorite JRPG of this gen unless it fucks some shit up along the way. Exploration has been completely overhauled. The field is full of giant wide open areas and lots to explore. It lets you wander off in areas that dont pertain to the story has a decent amount of sidequests, and I love the combat it mixed Graces and Vesperia's together pretty much and its amazing.

I've been mostly playing as Elize (my avatar) who is basically the healer, but she gets some attack spells and physical artes too. The best part about her is she has two stances. One increases her physical attacks makes them hit harder and go faster, and the other powers up her magic and gives her basic attacks more range.

Just finished Sleeping Dogs. It was pretty neat but nothing amazing. It really needed a lot more polishing, none of the game really shines in any way and all the elements have been done better in other games. The later missions were fantastic, I just wish they kept the flow going instead of putting in a cutscene every time they wanted to change the goal of the mission, like from a fight to a chase.

Driving cars sucked though. Driving motorbikes was where it's at, god that was so much fun.

I don't have enough money to get Dragon's Crown but I did buy some games for my Vita last night: Rayman Origins, Hotline Miami, Velocity Ultra and Ten By Eight. All of that under $25.

Played a few levels of Rayman just now. I've never played any game in the series but I'm gonna love this game.

I finally got to play Tales of Xillia today. I picked up my Collectors' Edition on launch day, but I had to go out of town on a work assignment, so I didn't get to play.

Man, is this game awesome. I am loving it. Namco has finally topped Tales of Symphonia. In fact, I think Tales of Xillia might be giving Ni no Kuni some serious challenge as my GOTY, and that's really saying something. I don't think it's going to top Valkyria Chronicles as my favorite game of the 7th console generation, but it is still awesome. Anyone who's on the fence about it, go and pick it up.

I will pick up Dragon's Crown with my next paycheck, probably, so I'd love to hit one or more of you guys up for a game night.
