Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
I've been too tired to play anything. I have a week's vacation, though, and I plan to spend a lot of time with Ni no Kuni before I head off to see Nobuo Uematsu in concert in Omaha.

That would be one fantastic concert.

I have backstage tickets, too, so I get to meet Mr. Uematsu in person.

Truly a fantastic concert. Anyone know which Final Fantasy soundtrack he likes the most?

According to Wikipedia, Final Fantasy IX is his favorite Final Fantasy, both as a game and as a soundtrack that he composed.

I will platinum it one day. Since beating it, I just haven't had the urge to play it like I used to. Still my game of the year though, The Last of Us is going to have to be pretty amazing for that to change.

Unless Bioshock Infinite and/or Tales of Xillia, my only two other possible GOTY games, turn out to be insanely good, or unless there's some other surprise, this is going to be my GOTY.

That is one sweet dream. Too bad Mr. Drippy wasn't there.

I've had dreams about games after playing them for a long time. I played FFVI for sixteen hours straight the first time I got it and hallucinated about it the entire next day.

The end. Sad part is I've already tamed one and leveled my toons so why that familiar? And why after I hadn't played in a few days? The mind is a strange thing.

I've had dreams about games I really wanted, and it is just me looking at a television enjoying a game I cannot see. That happened when I really wanted Final Fantasy VII.
p-spiddy, ever get that platinum? I could easily just look at your trophies but that requires way too much work.

Final Fantasy IX is one great game there, so I'd just keep on enjoying the distraction.

I'm progressing slowly through the game but I'm progressing nevertheless. I just acquired Swain and the ship.
I don't see that this has been brought up much but did anyone here play the game with the Japanese audio track? I don't dig English dubs on movies or anime so I always turn on the track that has the actors' accent and language to get a better feel for intonation.

I never bother with Japanese tracks myself. I don't understand the language, so it means little to me. I think the English version of Ni no Kuni is one of the better English voice tracks - including both localized and American-made games.
I never understood the fuss over Japanese audio, unless someone speaks Japanese. I'd rather just hear the dialogue in a language I understand. I know a lot of people were in an uproar with Tecmo Koei over the US version of Atelier Ayesha not having dual audio, although that was because the previous games localized by NISA did have dual audio.

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
I don't mind the battle quotes in games so much as long as they're varied, although I can see where that would put people off. Persona 4's in-battle verbalizations drove my wife nuts.
It'd be cool if Ni no Kuni had all the humorous win quotes that Tales games have, though. The Tales games usually have funny win quotes, and there's actually some context to some of them.

Where can I find a Purrloiner/Puss-in-Boats type familiar? I want one of those but I've never been able to snag one.

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
Is Puss In Boats orange? If orange by a town that starts with a P (Perdia?) I think that is found later in the game. I played this game so fast, this game is almost a blur to me. If it's the black one, it's found by the tropical town (Castaway Cove I think). Hope that helps, even though I'm sure it won't.

You'll find them outside Perdia, as well as a creature that will net you 7000 XP. If you run around there for a while you'll level up and get your kitty cat.

I want my kitty cat! And leveling up some wouldn't hurt either. Love Ni no Kuni, but it can kick your ass!

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
That's actually what I ended up doing. I snagged a Purrloiner and leveled him up to a Puss-In-Boats. But while I was hunting the 7K monsters, I also managed to tame a Puss-in-Bouts.

Jesus. Zombie King Tom is worse nightmare fuel than anything I saw in Bioshock Infinite.
