American Horror Story Coven Discussion
Now that the first episode has aired, what are your feelings on the show? Personally I'm very happy with the direction the series has taken. The first season was very scary, but that just didn't work as well in television format as it does in a movie. A suspense/ thriller series with heavy amounts of horror elements is much more my thing.
Also of note is the leap this season has taken in the form of its soundtrack, especially Lala Lala Song. I'm very happy that the music is being used for more than just setting the tone of a scene. There were a few cases like that in Asylum, but most of the time the music is kept far in the background in the past seasons.

- Spoiler:
- I'm really interested to see the way each character will progress during the story, especially Sophie. In just one episode she turned from a normal teenage girl into someone willing to rape a person in order to kill them (it was interesting also that when she raped him in his sleep, it was under very similar conditions to the way he committed rape earlier in the episode). She can only get more disturbed from here.

I didn't much care for the first season of this show, but since its an anthology and I've heard Season 2 is much better I want to give it a shot. I know each season is a different story, but are they still meant to be watched in order? Otherwise maybe I will jump into Coven and then watch Asylum later when I get the chance.

You can watch the series in any order, but I do personally suggest watching each season in order. So far, the quality rises immensely with each season.TripOpt55 wrote:I didn't much care for the first season of this show, but since its an anthology and I've heard Season 2 is much better I want to give it a shot. There's no reason to watch the season's in order other than seeing actors/actresses playing new roles. The only thing that is starting to bother me about the show is that it likes to see how much it can get away with in terms of gore and things like rape. It's like when Rob Zombie directs a movie, he just thinks the more gore/nudity/violence/language the better.

I dunno about that. I feel like AHS is one of those series where everything has a point to it, although it could certainly handle a season or eight that doesn't have thirty rapes in it.BretBaber wrote:There's no reason to watch the season's in order other than seeing actors/actresses playing new roles. Excessive gore has no point. Showing pigs cut in half isn't something I need to see.
