My brother brought his dog here today. She is a goofball. I will post some pictures once I get some.

Good call. Figures aren't meant to stay in boxes anyway.

Re: The Face Station | A General Photo Sharing Thread

Post by TripOpt55 on Sat Nov 09, 2013 5:01 pm

Wasn't sure whether to post this in here or the music thread, but I guess either way people will see it. As I mentioned before I got tickets to see Metric though they were actually opening for Paramore who I like, but admittedly don't listen to all that much anymore. Anyway, my brother works at a radio station and managed to get us two VIP passes, so I got to meet Paramore and take a backstage tour! The meet and greet thing was very brief. Basically shook hands with them, said a few things, got this picture which turned out a bit blurry, but still pretty cool (my brother is the shaved head dude in case that isn't obvious).

The guys that were setting up the meet and greet had no idea about the backstage tour, but he found Paramour's tour manager and he took us around which was really cool. We were out on the stage at one point and saw everything set up but it was really dark, so pictures were tough. Here is a decent one of Paramore's guitars on the side

And a shitty one of the stage though this setup was for the first band Hello Goodbye. They switched that out pretty quickly for Metric and then Paramore's stage was setup behind a curtain behind this.

The concert was great. Metric mostly just played stuff on Fantasies and Synthetica. The best songs live were probably "Help I'm Alive" and "Synthetica." Emily looked pretty great too. Paramore surprised me since I more went for Metric as they were quite great live. Hayley was very engaging with the crowd. And she actually brought a girl on stage to sing part of the final song which was cool.

I'd like to meet one of my favorite bands at one point in my life. I'm sure it'll never happen, but it is still a wish. Glad you had a good time!

I like both of those bands so that's super cool! Glad you go to do that. Did they seem nice from the brief time you spent with them?

Re: The Face Station | A General Photo Sharing Thread

Post by Rainjar on Tue Nov 19, 2013 6:02 pm

For the past couple of years I've slowly, slowly been collecting canvases to put up in my room. Hoping to get some more early next year but not sure what of.

This is mostly just me testing out the PS Vita camera (I haven't had an actual camera in fucking ages so finally having one, even if the quality is crap, is like ohshit). Would have turned my light on but there hasn't been any bulbs in it for ages as I prefer just having the lamp on instead.

Considering getting either a Cowboy Bebop,Journey or Dark Souls one next.

How in the world can you sleep with the Silent Hill one in your room?

I guess since I haven't played Silent Hill I don't get why it is so creepy. The one below it I find creepier.

Like Trip, the SotC one is my favorite. If someone didn't know of that game, it kind of looks like Zelda as well.

To be fair, 75% of Silent Hill's creepiness is its amazing sound design.

I've got a sweet poster of SOTC in my room, out of good old OPM. There's nothing else quite like the sights of that game.

I would take a picture of the posters and stuff on my wall but in order to do so I'd have to take a picture of my horrible desk

OPM was the greatest magazine ever. I loved those writers.

In my restless dreams, I see that canvas...

BretBaber wrote:I guess since I haven't played Silent Hill I don't get why it is so creepy.  The one below it I find creepier.

Like Trip, the SotC one is my favorite.  If someone didn't know of that game, it kind of looks like Zelda as well.
The one below it is the poster used for a film called Paprika. It's the last film Satoshi Kon got to make before he died.

The SoTC one was actually the second canvas I got. My friend from college got it for me as a secret Santa present which is really awesome. It's difficult to decide what to get next though seeing as all of them have ended up having fairly similar colours (Aside from the blue haired chick but she's on her own wall so it's okay).

Does anyone else still have those little cards that came with SotC? I lent it to a friend for a while years ago and his sister cut large chunks out of them all. I'm still mad.

Ya, nothing made me more excited than getting one of those in the mail. EGM as a replacement was pretty good. And then I started getting Maxim in the mail... mom wasn't impressed.

Sam Kennedy, Joe Rybicki, Todd Zuniga, Gary Steinman, the Asian guy that had a weird name. Not to mention they were funny guys. Man, I wish that magazine was still around.

Yeah that is pretty badass. Some kind of European version it looks like. In the US we just got a standard DVD case style one. Not nearly as cool.
